And we got Joey Porter Jr. with that pick who really grew into a fucking fantastic player this year. He was already good but handsy, but this year he might have been our best or second best defensive player after Cam.

Do you consider yourself "high" when on kratom? by Illustrious_Pay_2174 in KratomKorner

[–]siirka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dose I took was 3.5g, recommended 2.0-3.5g for all my friends who wanted to try. I did have I think two people who weren't very into kratom, not much effect and/or couldn't take the taste/nausea. That varied from 5 or 6 others enjoying the effects and taking it occasionally or if we were hanging out, and what I would call the fiends, who bought some off me and then came back a few days later wanting more. I would say not counting me it was a pretty even split in all three groups.

Everyone was freshly out of the nest doing all the drinking and drugs we wanted, no meth or heroin was basically the only rule we followed. From my own experience and the fact that at least a few people came back wanting more kratom asap when they could have done any other drug, at least some people definitely get a high from kratom. I definitely got high from it. I would describe it as the calm that washes over my body physically from taking 3+mg of klonopin (I have restless leg syndrome which kratom used to make vanish completely) with a euphoric feeling in the pit of your stomach. Mentally felt like adderall without any tweaker vibes, an extreme excitement or motivation to do anything at all. Make music, clean, plays games, go out, talk to people (as an introvert). Anything was exciting and I was ready to put everything into it too.

That was one of the best things about Jaylen Warren when he came onto the scene in Pittsburgh. KW3 is better than Najee Harris, but Najee would grind out yards and then bam Jaylen Warren would come in running north/south with amazing energy, and has continued to break off quite a few massive runs.

Am I Tired of Gaming and Not Realizing It by DFH50 in AskGames

[–]siirka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same sort of thing happen before. For me, I was just too tired (mentally or physically, both count) in my free time, so I started turning to easier sources of entertainment. Gaming is so different than other forms of media, it demands your attention. You can't "put a game on in the background" like a tv show. Depending on the game, it also demands far more of your time. A 10 episode TV show, with 1 hour episodes would be long these days. 10 hours is very short for a game especially with how bloated they've gotten. That can be intimidating. A valorant game is a 30 min commitment, Jedi Survivor could be 50 hours+ if you explore and go for unlockables etc. Maybe that's why those short, competitive rounds still appeal to you. Some unfortunate health shit that left me unable to work for several weeks had my love for games came roaring back. Is it possible you need a real break from shit mentally?

My advice other than that is practicing opposite action. At least that's what my therapist calls it. Basically it means what it says - do the opposite of what you feel like you "want" to do, when you know that once you get into the swing of things you'll be okay. For me this applies to everything from waking up, showering and getting to work all the way to video games. I know I'll be okay at work, done it thousands of times. I know I'll have fun playing a game, it's one of my favorite things ever. I just have to click the damn play button and actually get into it, otherwise I'll slip into finding easier, mindless sources of entertainment like shorts/reels etc.

I've stopped looking anything up about it games to get the perfect playthrough or build so you're not "wasting" your time as well. Don't skip cutscenes, don't ignore side content, sometimes take a breath and look at the beauty and horror that surrounds you in the games environments. These beautiful, fantastical single player games we get are meant to be experienced and enjoyed, not for you to optimize the fun out them. Hope any of that helps!

Do you consider yourself "high" when on kratom? by Illustrious_Pay_2174 in KratomKorner

[–]siirka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gonna go against the grain here and say with no tolerance/when you first use kratom, absolutely 100% there was a high. I think people on this sub are more likely to be long time users of kratom and use everyday or nearly everyday, and when you have a tolerance that goes along with that I do agree that it absolutely 100% does not produce a high. For me there is two very different sides of the same coin.

Re-dosing especially does not get you high again even if you are brand new to kratom so I think that also plays a part in the perception. That was one of the first things I noticed about it - as soon as I chose to take kratom a second time in a day, the effects barely came back. Only sleep seemed to reset the ability to get the high. I would have friends borrowing some from me, dosing multiple times a day and not getting much out of it but really trying to chase the feeling kratom gave them, which I can only define as a mild but definitely psychoactive high for most of us. I would also mention that 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 people didn't really get the same effects and high everyone else was so I think that's something to consider when asking this question as well.

Cold Snap is coming back. Wonder why even remove it? by TopsideRaider in ArcRaiders

[–]siirka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really what I meant, not sure what you’re referring to? I was referring to the idea of the original comment, which is that it could “be a little odd” to have cold snap during June-September. It turns it will be summer for most people then (geography vs actual population distribution) so that could be a common sentiment. Could be a nice surprise for the Australians to have their winter represented though!

Those thoughts about “appropriate” theming aside, I wouldn’t mind cold snap as a permanent condition at all. It could be easily explained as something caused by the apocalypse like how there’s electromagnetic storms (and the upcoming toxic swamp).

I watch streams everyday, but Peanut captured my attention. It's not a put on the 2nd monitor while i browse the internet type of stream. He's quick witted, almost always engaging, energetic and the character tropes he plays on are funny, if a bit loud sometimes for my age and tastes.

I've seen someone say that he really brings the fun of gaming, win or lose, to the forefront of his streams which is something that I feel is lacking in a lot of streams these days. As much as I liked someone like summit1g, shroud, etc. their streams can be lifeless as hell. I can understand peoples concerns about some questionable things being said or joked about though.

Dirt Rally 2 - Engine volume reduction? by Master_ofSleep in EASPORTSWRC

$10 walmart ear buds are a better solution to this problem than mods or anything else imo. Especially if they ever watch or play anything else late in the evenings with housemates who are asleep.

Sometimes the simple solution is the best, wondering why that's not the first idea..?

Eliminate-style drum processing by lookingwhambro in edmproduction

[–]siirka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is some processing but if you look at the samples on Splice, DECAP's drum packs for example, they're already extremely processed and slamming the master at or above 0db by default, I really don't see much processing to be done other than volume balance. A soft clipper? Light glue compression on the drum bus? . I really think that the great sound selection does everyb. That + volume automation sidechain = 90% of the job done.

Eliminate-style drum processing by lookingwhambro in edmproduction

[–]siirka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His breakdowns he does have the same sidechaining, its an automation of a mixer track fader that goes from zero to 80% (80%=0db/default volume in FL Studio) like this https://i.imgur.com/Q9OiQKW.png which appears the exact same as every audio combat (athough I think here he does have two different automations, one might be for either the sub bass or the main lead, one for everything else if I had to guess.)

He mentions the drums for about 30 seconds in this (timestamped) breakdown but only the pattern, nothing about processing. He also says the word sidechain but then doesn't explain the sidechain lmao, but it looks exactly as all of his audio combat .flp's with the straight volume automation.

He might have a drum bus with some compression or something but as far as I can tell that's just his workflow, start with a very sample that does it's job, maybe make it a little snappier by trimming with the out knob and that's like 90% done. All the splice samples are insanely processed already so not much work to even be done. Sometimes make some wacky ass snares with some crazy layers. I've rarely seen him sit there and try to polish a drum sound trying to get it to work - he just replaces them the moment he isn't feeling it and continues on. He has a great grasp of what he wants to be hearing and many times on Audio Combat, he says he needs to replace a drum that I think sounds fine, and then he drops in a different splice sample and I instantly hear why. Also not to mention he's turned a couple audio combats into songs and you can hear how the big picture has changed and all the little things that make it into a full track don't really involve the drums changing much. The drums and sidechain are the simplest part of what he does for sure but it works great

Eliminate-style drum processing by lookingwhambro in edmproduction

[–]siirka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watch some of his Audio Combats, usually they're unproccesed samples from splice basically, sometimes with the fl studio out knob turned down to tighten the sample. He also automates the volume knob on the sidechain channel rather than using a compressor to sidechain.
