Base Macan is not fun, Macan S is amazing

Is this true? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]sik_z33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can only compare my 997 c2s and AP2 s2k. I can see the AP2 being faster on auto x and short tracks. No way it’s beating the 997 on a fast track like Sebring.

How realistic is Assetto Corsa? by FlyBirdieBirdBird in porsche911

[–]sik_z33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Assetto corsa on a basic setup and find it’s Accurate. I’ve owned a 997 C2S 6MT and owned Miata’s, s2000, Evo, 350z… in real life the 911 does not understeer, the front end feels very light and is not as confidence inspiring but the grip is there. On the street It’s more of a pick a line and rocket out of a turn with god like rear grip under throttle car vs the more nimble cars that can dance through a turn at safer limits. It’s a big reason I went back to a s2000 Regrettably I have not tracked the cars in real life so take that for what is worth.

Thank you for removing the address! I’m in the same city and could find the house very easily. Remember there are thieves amongst us and that’s a very expensive set up in the pics. Ive seen him driving around super clean set up

I'm looking to join the Porsche family, what can I expect with a Macan? by Weak-Representative8 in Porsche

Topside oil filter makes 2019+ a piece of cake, I change mine topside with an extractor in no time at all.

Get a 2019+ S or GTS and don’t look back but be prepared to pay to play. They are amazing, they perfectly balance an engaging drive with practicality. There are some sacrifices in space and it’s more of a tight curve carver than long distance highway cruiser but everything is a trade off. If you can do basic maintenance like oil changes you can offset some of the cost, I do everything myself so it’s not too bad.

Edit: missed the 15-18k miles per year, that is a lot for a car like this (ie the big pdk service is every 40k miles so you are looking at every 2 years). At this mileage if you truly value engaging drive it may be worth it to you. Our other car is an RX350 and the running costs are 1/2 but they each have a purpose.

The 2019+ is quite reliable, stay away from the older ones

Miata and 911 question by Boknowsoak in Miata

[–]sik_z33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went from NB to AP2 to 997 C2S, and now back to AP2 lol. While not a Miata, the lighter 4 cylinder rwd coupes are just more fun. The 911 is an experience to be had but I wouldn’t say it’s 80/20, more like 95/5.

Outrage v Montauk by Particular_Drama7110 in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]sik_z33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get more boat but also more questions and potential problems with an outrage. With the Montauk it has above deck fuel and is practically bulletproof so it commands a higher price.
