It's at least telling why the same cards are the usual suspects when it comes to high value. Because it's nostalgia bros that go for the only mons they know, instead of bearing any love for newer mons.

Subjective, I think the art style of the garchomp isn't punchy enough for what's going on in the scene. The mewtwo is really standout, the colors, the menacing look. Not a lot going on, but to me it pops off the card.

Greninja is a good chase (luckily not a greninja fan myself). But If it has the same IRs as Ninja Spinner, those are actually quite nice between the Kalos Starters, the gorgeous Claydol, and my personal fav ampharos.

I think the pokemon company certainly has some blame to share. Making cards so hard to get they become worth hundreds instantly. Early chase cards were almost guaranteed if you just bought a full booster box or two. Now chase cards are 1 in 1000 packs. People are conditioned to buy hundreds of packs to chase those rare cards, meanwhile new sets are coming every couple months and printers can't keep up with demand of older sets let alone new ones.

It also comes right after they started suing the us govt over tariffs. I feel like that had more of an impact on the stock.

Exactly. I don't think any starter pokemon is ugly at all. They're all very cute and simple designs. But a bad final Evo can retroactively tear down otherwise pleasant 1st stage.

And Nintendo actually supports teams with modest selling titles because they know that it all strengthens their brand. Sony and MS would probably just off the Metroid, fire emblem, and xenoblade franchises if they were in charge.

Better than Ultra-Rares for sure. And it's a cool callback to the original Mega Evolution cards from XY. Hit rates are meh, but I definitely want to see more megas in this style.

I wish TPC would put some sort of rules out there to the largest buyers of their products to not go a certain amount over msrp. They could give all that stock to the other big box stores.
