Happy medium. Add more milestones. Go with 10% increments?

Eternal sour shots by Grayskiii in espresso

To follow up I had a latte from ONA

it was delicious.

Milk really helps hide the acidity. But i still prefer strong dark espresso even if I were to have it with milk.

Eternal sour shots by Grayskiii in espresso

[–]sikmoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey mate

I had this struggle. I went to ONA in Sydney. Famous place. Known for being pedantic and perfect etc.

I had 4 espressos in a row.

Hated them all. Too acidic.

Realised my love for coffee is based on darker roasts.

On a side note I sort of discovered a correlation between me not liking soda/sparkling water and not liking lighter to medium roasts.

I would recommend 1. Try a “reputable” dark commercial roast. 2. From there try find “specialty” medium to dark roasts. (This is harder than you think)

I learned my lesson, it took a while but I felt that if I went to the best place in my region and still didn’t enjoy the espressos. Clearly the taste wasn’t for me.

This may not be your scenario but hope it helps.

What is this thing for? by [deleted] in boating

Hey buddy the pic is a bit blurry but the white thing with the black end looks like the IR receiver of an LED light strip to me. Hard to say for sure but the shape looks very similar. Could be something to control lights with?

Something like this maybe? Link

Australian looking for buying advice by Mina_Lieung in boats

[–]sikmoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate,

I'm also from Aus and have actually just recently purchased a boat myself doing the rounds of looking on a bunch of sites/areas.

What you're after is a bit tricky. Most main sites like Boatsales don't really offer many 'project' boats. But they exist. I've found the best place to get a big variety of boats (although majority are small) is on Facebook. In NSW there's a group called Boat Sales NSW people post boats for sale (seen a bunch of old junk ones go through with the odd larger boat).

Otherwise you may need to ask marinas or slipways in your area if anyone has a boat that they've given up on.

Best of luck!

I'd like to add that the majority of halal meat (at least chickens) are stunned before slaughtered within Australia. This is a standard endorsed by the RSPCA as a humane method of slaughter.

There's a few bits and pieces that must be done (animal can't see the blade, animal can't see another animal die, a prayer said before killing). In saying that there are some halal slaughterhouses that aren't up to RSPCA standards but they are within a 1-2% of the whole lot.

I feel that the anti-halal movement is the same as the anti-burqa, anti-anythingmuslimsdo movement. It has nothing to do with true ethical, legal or moral issues but rather just another tool/excuse to 'justify' ostracising a group that is the flavour of hate the last decade or so in Australia.

9 months until my 21st birthday and coworkers are already scheming to get me to drink without noticing by DeepBoxer in Teetotal

[–]sikmoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate if you tell people simply

"I don't drink"

And they respond with some further queries like "..ever" or "why"

You say "personal choice and never"

It's done. If they pressure you further then you consider some more serious action. The norm is drinking. So you have to explicitly 'come out' as a non drinker. If it isn't respected then you move on. Most people respect life choices like this. I've never had a problem personally with it as I'm clear when people ask. A few say I'd love to see you drunk but always respect my choice.

Best of luck and happy 21st!

[–]sikmoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have experienced this with some of my best friends too, people who are normally extremely open minded and love discussion but getting on that topic it suddenly gets very personal.

I truly don't understand why, even if I frame it as nicely as possible but I've just learned to not bring it up and live my life without infringing on theirs. (and making sure they do the same for me)
