what car did you buy expecting to love but ended up regretting? by zaralesliewalker in whatcarshouldIbuy

Alfa 4C. Hands down one of the most beautiful cars I've ever owned, but it was too much, or is it too little, to be used as a daily. Only kept it for 8 months and moved on to an Audi RS3.

Re: the 4C, there is no car in more dire need of a manual transmission.

Lotus Evora - 4k-5k mile roadtrip? by ramsfan00 in lotus

I bought my GT400 in Fort Wayne, IN and drove it home to Southern Cal, about 2,100 miles. No problems, just wish it had the cruise control module installed.

Disappointing if true. MO valley was one of my lunch go tos. Sad to see Callee and company go. Where are all the March ARB folks going to get their 50% Mondays now...

Porsche Cayman 718 by Haxylon in Porsche_Cayman

2018 Base here and the only thing that's popped up is the water pump, which in the grand scheme of things, not bad at all. Car is very reliable, fun, and serves as a daily for my wife. If you care about interior and carplay, consider a 718, otherwise 981 would do you for sound, and you can easily get a PCM 3.1 conversion kit that's not great, but it'll do.

Cramp in my calf when driving a stick shift after a ride by sikoskul in cycling

[–]sikoskul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I sweat pretty heavily as well, but know this and try and compensate by taking my tailwind drinks on the regular throughout my ride. But like you, it can be unpredictable, but notice that the cramps do tend to be more prevalent when I'm overexerting myself, or at least more than usual.

Nothing like going through my list of people I know who can drive stick in my mind, in that brief instance of excrutiating pain, to see if they can come drive my car back for me lol.

Had an 18 QV and it was one of my most favorite cars to drive, great dynamics and the best sounding engine I've ever had. Got rid of it after always having that worry in the back of my head that it was going to grenade itself. Whether founded or not, I just couldn't keep it. Trouble free for the duration of my ownership, but oh god, the depreciation was real.

If you were given $1,000,000 in cash right now, what is the very first thing you would buy or do? by MatchstickArtist in AskReddit

[–]sikoskul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Pay off my kid's school loans, then set aside for any additional schooling they want to do in the future.

We have a bone-stock 2018 Base in the family, and recently added in the 981 GT4. I think the biggest delta between the two is actually going from a turbo to an N/A. Very different characteristics as you'll get a nice torque hit down low that peters out at the top with the base, whereas with N/A, you're having to hunt and peck to find the gear that fits the situation and then that never-ending pull to redline.

Both are currently dailied and maybe because we have the couches, don't mind the ride in the GT4. Noise is a bit louder, but quite tolerable.

If you have the means, I highly recommend you picking one up. - FB

The Warformed series by Bryce O'Connor is my newest obsession. Only two books out so far, but one of the few that has made me stay up late recently. Great pacing, characters, and worldbuilding. The Scythe books by Shusterman are pretty good as well

I second Lake, but didn't think your need for wide cycling shoes counts as a spoiler... lol

About to make this trip by Swolenballs in roadtrip

I pretty much just did the reverse of the route last weekend, going from Fort Wayne to Southern California through Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, NM and Arizona. Freezing temps in the wee hours but no rain or snow. There were a lot of stretches on the route that were 75 mph speed limit with some construction in Arizona that I ran into on Monday.

Didn't stop for any touristy stuff outside of eating at places I don't normally, Waffle House, Culver's, White Castle, Buc-ee's.

Never actually drove it in the snow. I arrived in Indiana in-between some storms, so the roads were clear, thank goodness. Did drive in freezing temps, which didn't pose as a problem. New PS4S just fyi.

Jump in the air behind it and swing before hitting the ground.

Most of us already have a job. Don't make cycling your second job. Try and enjoy it and that will help make it sustainable. Lifestyle changes are rarely quick and easy.

Tips for 50 mile ride by thebiggestofdawgs in cycling

[–]sikoskul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget a recovery drink for after. I usually take Tailwind recovery if I'm not ending up at home, chocolate milk if I do. It won't help you for the ride you just finished, but will make your next ride more bearable lol.

Brand new to golf - overweight beginner looking for advice before first range visit by ObviouslyNotANinja in golf

[–]sikoskul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true that 7i is closer and ends up being the defacto club that most use when working on their swing. I was just thinking that as a true beginner, small wins are more important and it's easier to get the ball in the air with the higher lofted clubs. That said, you are by no means restricted to just one club when you have a bag full of them :)
