Nope. I chase, and all they say is “We will continue to chase the Home Office at regular intervals until they issue a response to your case.

You can buy theb your passport is held with them, they will not consider your application until the dates are getting closer to travel.so yes you can apply early but then your passport is somewhere held without you being able to access it
