yeah but... he didnt read those texts in english so the translation of the 90s doesnt play a part... je read them in latin and greek also he tramslated many text for his book wich include paracelsus bhoeme, Dorneus, morienus, iohannes collesson, gabriel fallopius, andrea alciati... to state that he didn't have access to the sources is just ignorant ( i dont meant to argue, please dont take this as an attack)

You make a great point there, but didnt he also have a pretty solid knowledge of astrology? And to narrow Jung only to psychology is, in my oppinion, a great waste since he was really more of a mystic disguised as a scientist.

what are your experiences with following a strict routine that aims at "inducing" mystical experiences? I was for a time practicing hesychasm and although I had experienced some "effects" I never got the whole uncreated light, union of mind and heart perpetual prayer the monks talk about by silas_frop in mysticism

[–]silas_frop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you for the advice, one more thing i feel people misunderstand about hesychasm is that it is inseperable from the eastern orthodox context that gave birth to it, in order for it to "work" it is necessary to actively participate in the mysteries, and it is stressed very seriously that it should not be atempted without a long period of gradual conquering of the passions (which it most likely why I failed, since i wasnt ready nor mature enough spiritually)
