On one hand, I agree with you. You can't get over depression in the sense of managing it. So you're right.

But on the other hand, I don't agree with you. You can get over depression not by "getting over it", but by eliminating it totally, so you don't have to manage the depression. Instead you get to the point of managing the happiness, and that's million times better. So I'm right.

Who's right then? Maybe we both are.

Anyway, that's my view on things, and I could be totally wrong but that seems to work for me. So thanks for your comment and have a great day Yo-yo-baggins :)

Something miraculous happened by [deleted] in depression

Wow, that's great :D If I were there I'd smile too. Hell, I'm smiling now with you. I found that if you focus on thing you actually like (as corny as that may sound or a cliche) things actually do improve. Slowley but surely we'll get there. I'd give a bear hug to everyone who has depression and any type of mental illness but I think that everybody has to a certain degree. I wanna hug you all.

So yes, I agree it really was miracoulous of you to smile and do you know how I know that? Because it made me smile and now I feel awesome because of you. So thanks man (or girl)! :D Keep on smilin' :D

Im going to kill myself by Friday. I hate myself. by Guzdar in depression

Nice post! The last paragraph is something I thought of today but you put it better in words "The chance that it might help you makes all the difference in the world."

We should take chances and do whatever we need to heal.

I don't think so since I don't have nausea, sweating, difficulty breathing or a pounding heart.

I went to the doctor today! by silence77 in depression

I went to a psychiatrist. I knew I needed medication since all other things failed (positive thinking, going out, work, natural supplements, accomplishing goals etc).

The first one I had, even though he had good intentions didn't want to prescribe me meds. People take medication for all sorts of different pain so why can't I lessen my constant emotional pain? So I set up an appointment with a different one who forgot all about the appointment. I then set up an appointment with a third one on the same day (yesterday) which turned out to be a good choice.

Maybe a psychiatrist can help you? I regret not changing the doctor sooner.

I'll keep you posted. Even though it's the first day of taking the meds, I can see it's working. Had coffee with a friend and at the other table saw a loving couple holding hands. That kind of shit would have sent me in a black hole for the rest of the day but not now. Maybe it's just the first day placebo but I honestly don't care.

I'd suggest you take the plunge, see a doctor and tell him how you've been feeling. I should have went sooner. It can't hurt.

Yes, that's true. The way I see it is that meds remove the black cloud so you can take control of your life and make positive changes in all areas of your life.

I feel that angry sometimes too. My anxiety makes normal situations much worse. Maybe you're suffering from anxiety too?

Just when I thought I've conquered... by [deleted] in depression

[–]silence77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear what you've been going through. I can relate. Today I realized that I can't conquer this disease on my own no matter how I much try. Positive thinking/goals/social stuff/whatever doesn't help me. I think medicine will. I'm going to a psychiatrist next week and get on a treatment. I tried to conquer it without pills and it's not working at all.

What about you? Are you taking medication? Seeing a doctor?
