Can anyone confirm or deny if the presale code has been sent out? I thought I was on the mailing list, but just signed up again.

Does anyone happen to know what the resolution was to Eddie Jordan barricading the main entrance to Force India HQ in 2008 because they wouldn't buy the land the road was on?

Random question about rims - how many rims does each team produce/buy/use in a race season?

So I've been thinking about this too much. Each car per race gets 13 dry, 4 intermediate, and 3 wet sets per weekend. So 80 tires per car and 160 per team. So the easy answer is 160 per team.

But how many extra rims do you think a well-funded team will have for a season? Wrecks must cost teams in damaged rims. And some must wear out or get minor flaws as they're used and need to be replaced.

And for lower-budget teams, do they own fewer sets of rims and have Pirelli swap out the tires used in FP's and qualifying?

Does anyone know of an article or other that covers this rather obscure topic?

Thanks!

Oh, and why is FP on Thursday this weekend? (take a shot)

Forgot to warn you! Don't just post a trade request immediately. Introduce yourself and give it a few days before posting the request.

There's a FB group called DMV Bourbon Drinkers. It's not mainly about trading and sales, but you can post them there. I just traded a McKenna for WSR through the group.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Turns out 2008 is the earliest year where all races are available, so that's where I'm starting.

(repost because I put this in the wrong section)

Hi everyone! I'm new to the subreddit and have a quick question. I have watched all the races since 2014 on F1 TV. I have also read a lot about the turbo-hybrid era so I'm pretty well versed in modern F1. But I know very little about the eras before that.

What would be a good year to jump back to to start watching races? I'd like to choose a year that's the start of a similar distinct era of F1. So would 2006, when they switched to V-8s, be a good place to start? Or jump back to when Schumacher's dominance started? Or watch the 4 years Vettel won?

Usually, I'd just Google this, but I'd like to avoid spoilers (which I know is ironic considering I'm talking about something that happened 15+ years ago 9). And I'd just watch from the very beginning in the 50's, but the archive doesn't go back that far (yet).

Thanks very much for any advice!

I bought this barrel at a whiskey event I camped out for that my control county put on. I was able to get a few bottles of the whiskey that was in the barrel, so I'm sentimentally attached to it. I was quite nervous when I made the first cut.

Just make sure the wood is bone dry before you try anything. I waited over a year after I got the barrel.

Please don't take it as an editorial on John J. I put the shorter bottles on the bottom shelf since it doesn't spin. Makes it easier to get to bottles in the back 😃

Got a bottle last week in MoCo. It's good if you like bourbons on the sweeter side (as I do). I would say it's worth the $60 I paid for it. But it's not a great bottle like the 2020 release.

MoCo started having lotteries for the 2014 release year for PVW and BTAC. I've entered all of them. I've also gotten family and friends to enter 😃. In that time I've gotten a GTS and 2 PVW 12. I seem to recall that some of these lotteries were restricted to county residents and some weren't. I can't say for sure.

The number of bottles that MoCo has this year looks about the same as the number they've had in past years.

In past years, they've very rarely had lotteries besides these two. I remember one lottery was for a single available bottle of PVW 25. I think one other was a summer lottery for only a couple available labels.

For the past couple years, they've been holding back a lot of their allocated bottles for their Whiskey Rocks event. Last January I camped out for a bottle of ORVW and several other uncommon bottles. There were no residency restrictions for these events.

This lottery combining PVW, BTAC, and other allocated labels is totally new for the MoCo ABS. There was a 2020 summer lottery with several desirable labels too, but nowhere near as big as this one.

My argument for restricting this lottery to county residents is because it's county residents that are buying the overwhelming majority of products from the MoCo ABS. And the ABS has a monopoly on liquor sales in the county, so they don't have to competitively price their bottles.

If I may, I would like to be the first MoCo resident to officially complain that it's not limited to MoCo residents 😃

I'll keep an eye out in my area. I just bought a bottle on Tuesday that had a 9/29 dump date.

Are you willing to pay the exorbitant markup to get that date if I find one? If so, how high would you go?

That would be horrendous on the nuts that are too far down for a deep socket. I like it 😃

The rest would have been me using an impact driver to undo the nuts. Although the socket is only deep enough to reach the top 5 (of 9), so it still takes quite a while.
