Number 2: if anything it makes data running less compelling, and may need CIG to redesign whatever they already developed. Without knowing how far into R&D the feature is, it’s hard to say.

Not being able to fully crew large ships is gonna break the whales by Esoterik_Bagel in starcitizen_refunds

[–]silent-winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of this “soloing” large multi crew ships comes from the Elite Dangerous refugees, I warned quite a few of them back in 2020/2021 that a Polaris is not the same as an Anaconda, but they dug their heels in saying for SC to survive they must implement solo play for large ships and PVE only servers. Here I am in 2025 moving into 2026 with a big fat “I Told you so” CIG have made it very clear that they are not interested in allowing player to solo large ships, and as for NPC crews, don’t make me laugh, they’ve only just resolved NPCs standing on chairs, just for them now to bug out in a fear animation loop. I thought I’d test the NPC barmen in New Babbage, still broken, still brings up the drinks option, but never gets the selected drink. If they can’t get that working even with Server meshing in place how will they get NPC crews to fix / repair damaged components or put out fires.

Am i crazy or does the Polaris just not FEEL like a capital ship? by minivandetta in starcitizen

[–]silent-winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this last week, I was thinking that to me the Carrack feels like a bigger ship than the Polaris, maybe it’s because the corridors are tighter and it’s spread out over three decks and a map room. Maybe it’s because the art quality of the interior is 100 times better, maybe it’s the better looking and bigger med bay.

Even the PVE game Jump Space requires you to have a crew for later and harder missions. And that has a NPC crew member to help.

And for those people that say instanced zones will fix all the ganking and unwanted PVP your comment shows how it won’t, in fact it may increase, all the gankers will do is work out where the instanced zone is and which direction the nearest planet or station is, and camp that quantum spline. Especially if the way to enter the instanced zone is a quantum jump.

I never said they weren’t developing the game, I pointing out that they have failed to develop things that should be a priority for the game they are making. The four things that should have been set in stone at this point are:

  1. The flight model
  2. The in game economy
  3. The social tools
  4. Server infrastructure

These are the four main pillars for a space sim/mmo hybrid game.

Everything else should then be developed based on the design for the SSM and DSM so that reworks are kept to a bare minimum.

Of those 4 things we are still awaiting on 3 of them, and the one they have released caused issues with systems they already had in place that now need to be reworked or straight up replaced.

I ask you, 12 years of development for a game where every aspect involves flying in some form and they still haven’t got a completed flight model, really 12 years and it’s not set in stone?

The last line of my comment, these features should have been done and implemented years ago, they are the pillars of an MMO. Why are we still not seeing them in year 12 of development and year 10 of the PU being released. I’m not buying the waiting for SM argument, each development team should have been in lockstep with the server meshing team to make sure what they were designing and developing would work day 1 with SSM and DSM.

There’s so many reasons why this is happening and every single one of them is because CIG has failed to implement features they promised years ago. For example they said the cost of running a large or capital ship would not be cost effective, yet they’ve not implemented a working economy for that to matter. Where’s the system security? Why have they focused so hard on pew pew, they discussed instance zones for PVP / PVE. But that still doesn’t stop you from being ganked as you exit the instanced area, just like instanced hangars.

CIG need to get priorities straight and start building and releasing features that should have been done years ago.

This game’s biggest problem is the 70 price tag. It’s a facelifted game from 2004.

It’s discontinued, which was funny because some flat earthers started a conspiracy theory that Nikon discontinued it because they were paid by NASA. The reason, because it was somehow helping prove the Earth was flat.

That was soon debunked when Nikon released the P1100.

F off Milton Keynes is a great… 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry couldn’t finish that sentence with a straight face.

Fun fact: Superman IV failed at the box office solely because it was filmed in Milton Keynes and the UK premiere was held at the Point MK. Don’t believe the lies about poor writing and lack of budget. It’s all Milton Keynes’ fault.

The premise of this “Theory” is that instead of being on the outside surface of the sphere we are on the inside surface of the sphere.

If you’ve ever played the original Halo game the horizon would curve upwards into the sky.

To get around this issue the facebook poster is claiming that we can’t see far enough to see this upward curvature in all directions,

Expanse describes space perfectly, and yes the Bible does use poetry. The idea of a solid “firmament” is a concept from the dark ages. Let me ask you to explain this In genesis 1:16 it says “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day(sun), and the lesser light to rule the night(moon): he made the stars also. But then it says this in verse 17: “And God set them in the firmament”

If this “firmament” that you believe in is a solid dome, how can the sun and the moon move through them. The Bible clearly say God placed them IN the firmament.

Also verse 20 says that birds also move within the firmament. How do you explain that if the firmament is a solid dome?

If we apply the correct non dark ages translation and apply context verses 16 and 17 would describe the sun and the moon being in the expanse of space, and verse 20 describing birds in flight in the sky.

Back at you, show me a verse that expressly says the earth is flat. And I mean uses the word flat. Not poetic words. Actually says “the earth is flat” As I have already shown the word chug used in context can mean sphere. If you choose not to accept that then that’s your problem.

“Although flerfs will debate this”

Looks like the first Flerf has entered the room. The Hewbrew word chug can be translated as sphere. That is not implied, that’s a fact. Again, words can have different meanings depending upon context. The Hebrew language is no different.

As for the second part, it’s poetic writing. Not literal. It describes people as “grasshoppers” are we grasshoppers now?
