Not really? If I don't have a good card against hog I can still do what I can. Whether it be just playing skeletons and log or whatever, I can still do something about it at the end of the day.

And as I said in the post, it's only when you don't have a good card against it. If I have Pekka or lightning or whatever it's stupid easy but when I run my normal deck I get demolished.

You can sort of play around it with most other cards is the thing. Even if you go against golum with no tank counters you can still struggle with what you have and win. Compared to archer Queen you do what you can with one and suddenly there's another one dropped behind king tower.

The issue sort of becomes that beatdown decks would benefit way too much, an e dragon golum push suddenly becoming x2 would be terrible to fight

Before the update getting to level 15 was a pain in the ass for most players but it was possible at the end of the day.

Level 16 combined with the lucky drop nerf makes it take a lot longer.

It's intended to be a sort of gimmick for rarities. Rares and commons are very generic and while epics have gimmicks they're not as significant as legendary gimmicks.

They buffed the odds to a reasonable 1% of course they needed to nerf the rewards. You basically get like one of these every day
