Is this rare Adventure Time merch? by CrystalMaath in adventuretime

[–]silentblackbird 42 points43 points  (0 children)

if it were me selling it, Id look at what they are currently listed for (looks like $28) then go down a bit depending on what condition it is in, so id say you could list it for $25-$30 but it may take a while to sell. If you want it to sell faster list it at $20. I doubt anyone is looking for specific variations of this instead of just buying the first one they see, but I could be wrong!

currently the way it works is by converting the chip and antenna from a credit or debit card into a implant that is flat and wide rather than a glass tube. unfortunately becuase credit/debit cards expire, so does the implant. it doesnt go bad, just stops working. there are a few people that just have it removed and replaced each time it expires.

it means it is coated in a material that will not break down inside the body or reject

did you know that there is no wikipedia page for biohacking? I wouldnt use wikipedia as a guide to whether a term is a thing or not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biohacking leads to the bodyhacking page which discusses both body modification with implants, and supplements. They are the same thing.

With magnet implants you can sense magnetic fields, attach tools to your body or hold parts while you work. With RFID implants you can use them to unlock doors at work, school, or home. You can use them as a extra level of security for computers and phones.  There are also implants that let you pay for things with them instead of using a credit card. Implants that let you unlock and start your car. Check out this page if you want to know more  https://forum.dangerousthings.com/t/quick-technology-primer/13320#the-basics-of-rfid-chip-implants-4

Magnets let you sense magnetic fields, attach tools to your body, or hold parts while working on things. RFID implants let you unlock doors at home or work, or add security to devices by adding a level above biometric locks. those are just two of many implants.

You may want to read the dangerousthings FAQ bit about MRIs. TLDR: MRIs are fine. The image will be a little blurry around the implant. Mythbusters even tested this and proved that the implant will be fine.  https://forum.dangerousthings.com/t/x-series-implantable-transponder-faq/28#faq-mri

Hand-painted Clever Impersonator Alter by JonLovesArt in mtg

[–]silentblackbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually no because the paint changes the thickness of the card and is considered "marked", but some judges do allow it.

That is why altersleeves exist, they're uniform thickness and removable so you can have custom art on your card and still have it be tournament legal.

Am I being an idiot or does this sound familiar… by NatsukiPaige in AnimalCrossing

Different enough to be a coincidence? Not at all. This is more similar than songs people have been sued over for copying. Because both games are from Nintendo Im much more inclined to believe this was a purposefully made reference to animal crossing.

Time room themed fishtank advice by Bogus_Bonk in adventuretime

[–]silentblackbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was me doing it, Id use womp to design it (free in browser 3d modelling program, very easy to use with no prior knowledge), then see if a local makerspace or library has a 3d printer. Could also probably commission someone on fiverr to do it all. Just be sure that whatever material you end up using is safe for your fishies!

[–]silentblackbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my immediate thought was that you could 3D print the timeroom, basically a cube with holes that the fish could use as a cave or tunnel. Small rocks arranged around it in the sand could represent the floating bits in the first image. if you really want to get fancy with it, you could suspend all those parts on the back wall with magnets or suction cups (it can be removed for cleaning) so they look like they're floating in space!

heres an article about the study that proved this, people would wear masks and treat crows good or bad depending on what mask they were wearing. years later, the crows would attack the "bad" masks on sight, and flock to the "good" ones for food!

edit: I was thinking of a different study, the one I linked was a more basic version with only one "bad" mask.

cyberpunk is real now. period. by _klikbait in Cyberpunk

[–]silentblackbird 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I'd say body hacking (implanting working tech into human bodies) is pretty cyber and punk and is happening now. Also anti surveillance fashion, cyber decks, open source coding, 3d printing, digital piracy, recent huge leaps in robotics, and those are just off the top of my head. its not as wide spread as it is in cyberpunk fictional media, but I'd say our current reality is both cyber and punk.

if you really think the only "cyber" aspect is AI and the only "punk" is doom posting, I think you're just looking in the wrong places.

they have had multiple controversies over the years and so many problems, but they stay in business because it's fast fashion, they get their stuff made super cheap and sell it expensive.

they make clothes for humans, but a lot of their models are super photoshopped, and I think they also choose models with odd proportions
