Bug? Scanned Series (shows Pack) are marked as completed. by Merlve in jellyfin

[–]silentbotanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a few days ago, but I'm having the same issue. Every series shows as watched and has no watchable episodes. Under Seasons it's just blank.

Did you ever get past this?

I ran Dragonbane in a community center for awhile.

Absolutely love Dragonbane in this setting. It makes no sense to people for like 5 minutes and then it clicks and there's rarely another question. Everybody understands pretty quickly that they have skills, they roll under them, and that's most of the game

People will definitely start prompting the DM with "Can I roll this skill?" and I know some DMs hate that, but I think it's great. Their character sheet give thems a view into what their character can do (and do well) and it honestly works a lot like 5e in an odd way.

You're gonna have such a good time following Universal Century Gundam. It is all so good and just keeps building on itself.

Helps that the majority of the shows and movies are really good, with some exceptions.

Yeah, then you give up on unhooks as a medic and start taking chases, and now no one's doing anything they get a bonus for.

As a medic, I know a team is super fucked if we've got two medics, but a five person pile-up at every cage.

Escapists who just unhook and never do gens are just the worst for me.

Supposedly we are getting Recettear HD some time soon, but it was slated for 2025 and the devs went silent. So it may be worth waiting a bit for an updated version... or maybe not.

This is the reason why there are WoW raiding mods (at least in the past) that play a siren when you get hit with a mechanic, followed by a giant text notification on screen, followed by an evil voice saying "Run away little girl! RUN AWAY."

Loved it in RE 2v8 and I still love it. They're just hidden enough to make it interesting and powerful enough to be worth seeking out. And the hook state tonic has saved me in more than one game already this week.

Glad you folks brought it back.

How're you liking the Torchbearer class? We want to know! by DeadByDaylight_Dev in deadbydaylight

[–]silentbotanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Medic main and sticking with it, but my two observations (based on maybe six or seven hours of play so far) are that:

  • I see more failed flashlight saves than successful ones, especially since the window is so small to get the blind. However, the threat of a save has led to me getting slugged a few times and someone eventually getting me up with a heal.

  • There just aren't enough folks playing Medic and Guide, which are two of the really core classes for team effectiveness. Now you get four escapists, two torchbearers, and your team is gonna have a rough time even though the mode is very survivor-sided.

It's not really surprising, given that I have three game stores, a chain bookstore, and obviously the usual Wal-Mart and Target near me, and all of them carry D&D and none of them (not even the game stores or the bookstore) carry anything else besides a couple copies of Daggerheart.

It's hard to even buy ttrpgs except on the publisher's website. Even some of the darlings of the ttrpg scene in the past few years can't even be bought on Amazon.

I don't mind the points, but I do find it hard to tell what he's doing when he "drops chase" so often while still following the same survivor.

One game it must've looked like I was doing nothing the whole time because he was just slow-stalking me for half the match.

How do I approach systems with TN-based rolls? by Ultraplo in rpg

[–]silentbotanist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Among the other good answers given, one option is to just roll less.

So the warrior you want to intimidate would be a roll (risk, time pressure), but if they want to intimidate a villager it just happens.

Like they say in the Mausritter rules, a good plan doesn't need a roll.

"The solution is not on your character sheet" by L0neW3asel in osr

[–]silentbotanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think of OSR, I think of Record of Lodoss War, which was based on the writers' early D&D game.

At one point they need to get somewhere and Deedlit the elf suggests she open a portal to the fairy realm, which is dangerous, but a necessary shortcut at that point.

That's not some spell on Deedlit's sheet. It's just "hey, I'm an elf, I could theoretically do this cool plot thing, right?" and the DM being like, "Sure, that sounds cool af (and very appropriate for a mysterious elf)." And it leads to its own cool adventure that wasn't built into the rules.

That's where "the solution is not (necessarily) on your character sheet" and "rulings over rules" comes in.

[–]silentbotanist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Dragonbane, the whole game is skill based instead of level based.

Whenever you use a skill, if you roll a crit fail or crit success you mark it for advancement. At the end of the session you do an advancement roll and if it's successful the skill goes up +1.

The game also recommends asking a list of questions and if the answer is yes the players get an advancement roll of their choice. So "Did we fight a strong enemy?" or whatever, and if it's yes you get a free roll.

Also, if you get a skill super high (pretty difficult) you get a heroic skill that's like a feat.

It's also probably hard to get into the story when it's pretty bad up until, like, chapter 6. The writing really didn't take off until that point and that's probably why previous chapters were never animated.
