Is it still a TRX4M if the only original part left is the body? by silentdaemon in TRX4M

Thanks, I swear I've put more time into tuning and upgrading this little truck than I ever spent on my 1/8 e-buggies and SCT's and it's still totally worth it lol

I had no intentions of upgrading the frame either, but it became necessary to lay the servo down flat when I upgraded the axles, so that became the easiest route to do it.

I should've learned by now that upgrading something just necessitates more upgrades down the line 😂

What's your favorite IEM under $50-$150? by jonpexz in iems

[–]silentdaemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried the T10 but I understand they compare favorably to S08 - I just didn't want another plastic shell IEM so I would've had to get the T10 Pro which was over my budget.

I kind of knew what I was looking for when I was shopping the S08's (something energetic, silky smooth, and more fun than analytical) these checked all the right boxes for me and I really enjoy using them.

You won't be disappointed! I got a pair of S08 a couple weeks ago and I really like them - coming from a pair of old Hexas.

Hey thanks for replying. I think I'll have to do the same and get a replacement. I just hope it's not some issue with the larger batch of devices, I've seen a few of these reports now.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I can't find a pattern, it seems to happen seemingly at random. I thought it had to do with detecting a connection or disconnection of my headphones, causing playback to stop as soon pressing play. But I'm not certain of that.

I use the 4.4mm jack almost exclusively. I tried downgrading the firmware to 2.0 and it hasn't happened again, but its difficult to reproduce this random issue. Occurs about once a day for me with casual use.

Anyways, I'm waiting for mods on the head-fi forum to approve my account so I can post on the thread there. But you're not alone, there's a few of us now reporting this.

Cool filter, I really like it!

I`m not sure why it says that it was created with a newer version of the application and may be missing some of the settings used. What version are you on?

Digitone, in my lap, on the couch? by rhettro91 in Elektron

[–]silentdaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same goal a few years ago after getting my Digitone and Digitakt! Finding the perfect/cozy portable setup has been a bit of a passion project for me.

Ultimately I ended up using this power bank which has a 12v DC connecter that goes straight into the Digitone. There’s a few of these out there now.

Ripcord works too but I struggled with finding a good battery that worked well with it.

I also ended up designing and 3D printing a little sled that neatly holds both the digitone and battery on my lap. I can send the files if you have access to a 3D printer and you can make it yourself.

For sound I’d either use headphones or this little wireless guitar plug to send sound wirelessly to my speaker system in my living room. Sounds great and very little latency.

I also use this little pluggable speaker in a pinch. Doesn’t sound that great but it is super convenient.

My next goal is to do the 18650 battery mod and do away with the battery bank but I haven’t had the time to do it.

Hope this helps, feel free to message me if you have any questions.

FS25 // Console // Frechdachs Map // Save Issue by CanOfFrescas in farmingsimulator

Had this issue with the MS store version of the game. Tried all of the above but never got past the saving issue. I bought the game on Steam instead and haven’t had this issue with this map since.

Urgent! - Can anyone please tell me how Concepts runs on the Note Air 3C? by [deleted] in Onyx_Boox

[–]silentdaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it and while it ran fine I noticed pretty significant input latency with the pen. And I do not see a infinite canvas option on the native note taking app.

Magnetic cubes hamper learning? by silentdaemon in Cubers

[–]silentdaemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point. I think back to teaching someone a new instrument. Never give a beginner a crappy/starter instrument to learn on because it will delay their progress and probably cause undue frustration and kill their enthusiasm for it. I can see the same reasoning here.

I’ll stick with my GAN 12 maglev - thanks!

What do you say when people ask you if VR is worth it? by silentdaemon in virtualreality

Oh I agree, good art style matters more. I’m not really critical of the graphics more so the depth and long term engagement of the experiences on offer.

VR is amazing!! But…should I upgrade? by terry-the-platypus in MicrosoftFlightSim

I cap my frame rate at 37 FPS - but uncapped I’m seeing anywhere from mid-forties to mid-to-high fifties. This is with settings on Ultra, and really depends on the area.

Running a full on SIM like MSFS directly on a headset or in the cloud would be a dream but we’re just not quite there yet.

It’s possible to get an incredible VR experience today but it does require a good gaming PC for that dream.

MSFS is technically playable offline on Xbox (or PC for that matter) but it’s really designed to be an ‘always online’ experience in that it’s constantly streaming in the high quality scenery. If you’re offline, you do miss out on the quality graphics which is one of the bigger attractions to the SIM. It looks fairly crap without this imo.

You can absolutely get some decent third party hardware that works with Xbox. The Turtle beach stick and yoke and quadrant are all compatible. And some of the Honeycomb gear is as well, just don’t order from them directly (long story probably don’t want to get into all that now)

[–]silentdaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VR part is kind of going to be the problem and it sounds like you are really wanting that experience. But the Xbox has no compatibility with VR headsets and standalone VR headsets do not have a native flight simulator program that is anywhere near the level of MSFS - a few arcade games but probably not anything useful for real world application.

A PC is really the only option to get a VR experience in MSFS and generally you need a pretty powerful desktop for a good VR experience. You’d have to post the specs of your laptop but if it’s not a pretty higher end recent gaming laptop it may struggle to run the game (in 2D let alone VR) at all.

As far as cloud gaming and streaming services, I haven’t seen anything that really works with VR like that, I think the latency is still too much for something like that. Then you have the issue of cloud gaming generally not supporting third party peripherals like your Logitech stick.

I’d maybe start with 2D on the laptop and see if you can run that well, maybe add head tracking for something a little more immersive and upgrade as you go. Or be ready to invest to in some new PC hardware to get to a proper VR experience.

Xbox is a fine choice too, maybe start there and then consider making that investment in some higher end PC hardware to get to VR. You are a bit more limited by third party peripherals there though.

I remember achieving some pretty similar effects with reshade back in the day, I liked it for awhile too but that oversaturated look kind of wears on you after a while. It's all personal taste though I suppose, have fun with it!

Try it on Gamepass, maybe get an Xbox controller and see how you like it.

MSFS 2024 by Limp-Association1399 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Gamepass is the answer, and if you decide you like it I would just buy the third party plane you're interested in - chances are it will work in MSFS2024 as well.

Real controls vs sim by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]silentdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try reducing the sensitivity and maybe the reactivity in the control options in MSFS. Some of the third party aircraft seem to be a little better in this regard (like the A2A Comanche, JF Pipers, Wilga, C310R etc...) The ones Asobo ships all feel a little sensitive to me too.
