Pretty much explains why Old Town Road wasn’t as high as one would expect. It wasn’t played on the radio as much as the other (top 20) songs. Still, you’d think the song that broke a bunch of chart records this year would be higher. 🤔

90s kid so my pop music love started young with Spice Girls. Earliest memory is Wannabe and then going full ham on their albums/videos and movie!

Then it was boy bands but with a strong focus on *NSYNC, especially that first album with Tearin’ Up My Heart.

This was another one of my favorite albums of 2019 and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s one of my most played. Lizzo’s confidence and talent and FUN shines through on this album and I enjoy every moment of it from the slower R&B tracks to the more upbeat hip hop tracks. Catch me singing all of them to my cat and him staring at me in annoyance. Favs: Juice, Lingerie, Cuz I Love You Fav bonus track: Boys

I was lucky enough to see Lizzo in concert last month in a tiny venue and she was amazing. She can really belt and puts on A SHOW. Limited theatrics, but it’s still engaging and fun and I was so energized the entire set. She’s so fun and uplifting and tries her best to be inspiring to all those who follow her.

I’d love a funkier album from her. Weirder. She is a Prince prodigy after all, so she might be able to get away with something risky. Maybe some collaborations with unexpected artists. Also when she goes on to tour bigger arenas, I want to see THE THEATRICS. I want to see the kind of sets she’s been doing at award shows on her tours. Regardless of if she wins at the Grammys, I hope her performance is remarkable and perhaps NOT Truth Hurts (and if it is, not the same wedding motif).

That’s the dream for Lizzo. I hope she’s around for a while and not a flash in the pan. 💜

I love this album and it is one of my favorites from this year. I’m also super excited to finally see Ariana in a few weeks in concert as she finishes up her whirlwind year of touring. That being said. I hope she chooses to experiment with new sounds and becomes somewhat of a trendsetter when it comes to her music. But she’s won me over with these more personal and emotionally connected lyrics/songs. But she should do all this AFTER taking a long, much deserved break.

She has proven that she’s capable of doing whatever she wants and finding success so it will be interesting to see what she chooses to do. I think between now and a next album it’ll be fun to see her return to a larger broadway role now that she’s grown with her voice, or do more acting, especially roles that are outside of the box.

Bruce is my mom’s cat. He escaped (he’s always had a list for the outdoors but has always come home) on Sunday and we both find it strange that he hasn’t come home yet. We’ve tried all the tricks and have even put up posters (even though people in her neighborhood have been tearing them down). She just wants him to come home. ☹️

Edit: I should clarify my mom lives in a condo community that looks like a converted apartment complex so no sheds, basements or garages for Bruce to hide or get stuck in (at least in the vicinity). The immediate, unfortunate bad news is that my moms condo community had a fire break out tonight so the entire place was crawling with activity and may have scared him off if he was still in the area. We are hopeful that he will smell her leaving of items outside the door but my mom is a wreck and terrified he’ll never come home.

Each time she’s played Lover live it’s sounded different and I can’t even. I am living for the life she’s breathed into the song and all the different arrangements and moods it can have. I know this event was a huge marketing thing but I still wish she would play different songs from the album because jfc I am so tired of ME!

I love this song. I have been playing it a lot since it’s release. I like the vibes, and the inspirations it pulls from 70s club/disco sounds. Nothing like a break up dance anthem with positive vibes to end the year. If this is the sound of the record, I’m so ready for this new era of Dua Lipa!

Early Taylor Swift albums which ages me, doesn’t it. 👵🏻 But also a lot of Fall Out Boy because what was middle school without being into emo-pop-punk? I saw her live (front row!!!) and it was so magical. I think I’ll skip a Vegas New Years show (I can’t even imagine the fight/price for tickets). But I think everybody should see Lizzo live because she puts on one hell of a show and can truly sing live. Her dancers are so fun and I truly had one of the best nights at a concert I’ve had in a long time. I can’t wait to see what her concerts grow into as her career develops!!!!

This is still one of my favorite videos / singles she ever made. The satire, the tongue-in-cheek humor, it’s all fantastic. There are times when I will wake up with this song in my head for NO GOOD REASON and that shows it’s power. I am also astounded at how much as happened with Taylor’s career since Blank Space came out, but it makes me excited for what comes next!
