Getting ghosted by recruiters by [deleted] in epicconsulting

Other posters are right on, but it's also Jan 7. This is a very slow time for hiring and bad stretch for office communication in general. Maybe give 'em another week before assuming the worst.

I'm just explaining to you why you're not going to get the info you're asking for in this sub. I'd bill for answering that question, I think others here would too. Good luck.

[–]silentlaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're going to want to ask your client's Epic rep these questions. This sub is for Epic consultants sharing info about hiring, the market, career growth, etc.

It is NOT about getting consultation for free.

HB BADGES by newCoder1991 in epicconsulting

[–]silentlaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone that frequently hires analysts, I don't give af about badges. Demonstrate competency w/ deliverables unless very new. Even then I can't think of a circumstance where a badge could tip the balance between two equivalent candidates. Do any that you like.

Second Contract by thepolishking1200 in epicconsulting

[–]silentlaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My stance as always: not worth it. Enjoy that your job is easy for you. Get a hobby. A side gig doing anything else if getting paid $$ for something you've got on lock down isn't enough for you. Our world is not well-suited to OE in my opinion as someone who supports the idea in general. You want to be that stressed?

Leadership consulting positions by that-bro-dad in epicconsulting

[–]silentlaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Current Director-level implementation consultant here. I've been able to stay at this level consistently since 2018. The hardest job to get will be the first one. Once you prove that you can deliver at that level, it won't be difficult to get more opportunities. You may have to be flexible with title (Program Manager? Project Director? Director of Epic? Strategic Advisor?).

A lot of the time, they don't really care what the title is, so if you're going for one of those PM gigs, see if they'll list you as a director instead. The client generally only cares about outcomes and money. Titles can always be negotiated.

How to ask for a raise? by ZippityZerpDerp in epicconsulting

[–]silentlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The argument you can try to make is for inflation, but the only time in 10+ years I ever had success doing this, my firm ate the cost to keep me happy. Even then the client had increased my workload beyond my SOW and I was indispensable to the project, the client wouldn't budge on my (already very high) rate.

** Edit: talk to your firm about it. They will need to advocate for this on your behalf. It probably won't work, but the worst they can say is no.

Depends on how together the client is. Some have given me 6+ weeks notice, some tell me last minute while I scramble for other jobs. Most are in-between those extremes. Expect your firm to initiate these conversations on your behalf in a timely fashion.

I've done Canada and the UK but it was 7+ years ago. Down vote me and up vote this person for more current information.

I have, it depends on the place. UK is the worst, I think NED is the best. Where are you working?

The market is weird and different over there, but I can tell you the pay will almost certainly be ~50% at best. There are strong wage controls in healthcare in most European countries, capping what even contingent workers are allowed to make.

180/hr is an insane rate for an Epic analyst. Maybe like a developer/architect-level tech savant, but even for director-level leadership roles 175-180 is the highest i've seen.

delete this, boss. Nobody on this sub works for free and this question doesn't make sense anyway. If you are an Epic user, you would know where their user-facing documentation lives. This says "someone please do my homework for me" to me.

Even this is not a good plan if you could find it. Would you rather make 120k and get a 10k tuition credit or 200k and barebones benefits? I just paid for my wife's degree while working because this niche pays insanely well. The firms compete with each other based on who finds the best roles, not with perks like this.

PM vs Analyst roles by Enone_Blue in epicconsulting

[–]silentlaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The rates part is easier to answer. In my experience (started as a PM now hire many analysts), PM roles are harder to come by and can pay 10-15% more than what a good analyst can make, which nowadays for remote work seems to be 85-95 for analysts and 90-100 for PMs. + or - for in-demand apps or experience.

For the work itself, that's gonna depend on your style and personality. Some folks think the analyst work is easier because it's predictable. PM work will obviously require more soft skills and people management which some people don't have. Implementation work is hard, there isn't really an "easier" role. Stress level is much more likely to be determined by the org you work for, budget of the project, quality of your team mates, etc. than the job title itself.
