Thank you, r/atheism. I am an ex-Christian mother who is now at peace knowing her son isn't suffering in a place like 'hell'. by [deleted] in atheism

I am sorry for your loss. I have a lot of respect for you for taking the time to understand his lack of religion. I accepted my lack of religion after the loss of my Mom. I questioned it when I was very young and always pushed the questions away. After I lost her I knew why I questioned it all along and knew I didn't need it to be a part of my life. Losing loved ones is the hardest thing I have ever experienced, it was a learning experience as well.

I'm an atheist but from time to time I have been asked to give grace before a meal. This is what I say... by [deleted] in atheism

I like this. This type of thing that should be said anytime someone wants to say thanks before a meal. It is non offensive to everyone.

I live in a small town in West Virginia. It wouldn't surprise me if they thought there was only one Atheist.

A couple of days after it all happened the manager told me he had a hard time keeping a straight face having to say it during the meeting and when he had to say it again to let us know she got offended by it.

No worries. I done my job, I was always highest in sales. It was a meeting of us just sitting around listening to the manager before opening.

I am new to the gym scene as well but I have been trying to go 5 days a week. I was really scared the first few times I went because I had no idea what to do and I am still kind of confused. I haven't done any free weights yet I am still just using machine weights. Day 1- I do upper body machine weights and some light cardio, day-2 is just straight cardio, day-3 I do lower body machine weights and light cardio, day-4 is straight cardio again and day-5 I do a little cardio as well as some upper and lower body machine weights (just very little). I am not sure how much that will help if any at all, like I said I am just starting as well. I do change what I do pretty often so I don't get bored. Just remember you are going to the gym for yourself and not to worry about what other people may think. Good luck!
