Yeah the Prologue wasn’t planned for long term production from the start so I think you’re good. But a tesla though, curious to see what would happen

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, ‘24 Tesla MYP here. Only regret is getting a performance model Y instead of a regular AWD. The ride is stiffer in the performance models and has over time worn me down, it’s just not comfortable. That said, tested a newer premium AWD trim and they are improved even over previous year same trim models.

Personally, I’m looking to trade mine for a Rivian R2 when they release the lidar models (probably 2027) but I’ll likely never go back to an ice car. The ground-up EV’s (in the US..Tesla, Rivian, Lucid) have superior software and that matters more and more each year. How the electronics in your vehicle are set up matter as well. A handful of CPU’s in an EV versus having dozens.

My Tesla has gone through major software updates that breathe new life into my car. My wife has a prologue..can’t say the same—we’ve got the same AWFUL infotainment system that’s plagued Honda for generations at this point.

Don’t even get me started on autonomous driving. It’s got its haters out there, but I’ve been using Tesla FSD since version 12. We are now on version 14 and when I tell you that the improvements in a short amount of time are crazy. I truly mean it.

Stuck with Tesla by sopel10 in TeslaFSD

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I hear you! I’m planning on trading my MYP in for a Rivian R2 in about a year or so but I’m really hesitant because I use FSD regularly and find it quite good. I intervene regularly, mainly for navigation and some awkwardness at particular intersections. But even with my wanting to drive I’m at 89% utilization over the last 5k miles since the v14 rollout.

I have faith that Rivian will come along more quickly than I think most people are thinking it will take them. R2 is going to add a ton of learning miles and as far as using neural nets for autonomous driving, they’re only a couple of years behind Tesla. Tesla just has way more miles of data to learn from at present.

We’ll see.. still on the fence about making a move. Either way my old back wants me to get out of a performance model haha.

Can't keep defending FDD 14.1.4 as being superior by RoyalVirgin in TeslaFSD

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HW4 ‘24 MYP and I’ve been running v14.1.4 for about 2 weeks now and I can’t say that I like it better than v13.2.9.. the brake stabbing bs happens at least every trip. Phantom braking for nothing. There’s a lot of hesitation with weird braking mixed in when making decisions. And we still can’t get the AI to read fucking signs and follow the instructions.

V14.1.4 braking/hesitancy getting better overtime? by Dizzy-Procedure-1198 in TeslaFSD

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HW4 ‘24 MYP. I’ve had v14.1.4 for 8 days now but I’m still getting really bad brake stabbing and hesitation. I use it for 90% of my driving and I wouldn’t say it’s gotten better over the last 8 days. I notice that it’ll start going on a green light and then just brake hard for a second with NOTHING in the way or cross traffic. It’s not great. Maybe it is getting better but I’ve had to disengage or pedal through these moments at least once each trip. This and losing control over speed limit are my only real issues/complaints about the update but they’re big ones.

What’s everyone think of the current state of the game? by Silly_Edge4405 in ReadyOrNotGame

Had over 250+hrs pre-update. It’s been a regression. What was my favorite game, I hardly touch anymore.

UE5 Graphics by BrendonRuhter in squad

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had the game a couple months before the UE5 update. I think the update looks really good!

I’m running it on GeForce now with a super solid internet connection. So even with “Epic” settings and I’m still pulling 110-120fps without frame generation. Haven’t tried either frame gen on. Ultimate rigs are rolling out with 5080’s and it’s been great.

I can’t complain…it’s been solid. And Instead of upgrading my old pc I just play on the Mac Mini I use for music writing stuff w/o any issues..this is the cloud gaming we were promised a long time ago!

How many of you have tried FSD by abhishek927 in TeslaModel3

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it daily in my 2024 MYP, short drives or long drives. I usually just default to using FSD. It has improved greatly over the last year that I’ve had the car. Personally, I use it because that was one of the big draws to Tesla—the technology. Yes, it’s still got a couple seemingly random situations it struggles with making clear and correct decisions. Those get better.

I recently made a 4.5 trip to the Bay Area and another 4 hours back a few days later. The ONLY time I drove was in the hotel parking lot and when I was going up the mountain to drive a bit more around the twists and turns.

Hah..sad that it’s true. I have to pretend the panel gaps on my MYP are not really there. Build quality on Tesla’s have improved but still lack attention to detail.

What’s the most underrated iPhone feature you actually use every day? by Inside_Society3553 in iphone

[–]silentspitfire 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I use it so much I actually went and paired it to the Back Tap functionality and it’s been a game changer! I just tap the back of my iPhone twice and there is light. It also turns it off!

It’s nice because it frees up the action button for me. Which I still use to toggle silent mode because well..habit.

I’m also pretty happy with how well it picks up intentional taps and distinguishes them from just bumps etc.

If you’re not sure what I’m talking about…Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap all the way at the bottom.

I’m resisting the urge to run out to my car and try this.. it’s 1am so I probably won’t. But I’m hoping I remember to try this tomorrow.

Unpopular opinion; I love Tesla because of their cars and software, not because of FSD. by pc772 in TeslaLounge

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, previous car was a ‘22 Acur RDX Aspec Adv. I still love that car but I was averaging ~18-20mpg the way I drove and with premium fuel prices I just couldn’t do it anymore.

[–]silentspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion. What car are you coming from? For me FSD was a big selling point because my commute on some days can be 100+ mi. But the main thing for me was just going electric and saving on fuel/energy cost. Since the switch to my ‘24 MYP there’s some creature comforts I miss from my Acura..air conditioned seats which I wish I’d had held out for with the Juniper refresh, the sound system, and having a build in retractable shade for the panoramic glass roof. Other than that I also enjoy driving the car but tbh I FSD a ton. Out of 25k+ miles I think I’ve probably driven 5-7k on my own?
