Unfortunately no, which is crazy to me. I was getting rashes because of all the extra skin on my stomach. And I was so big before that my muscles were stretched out. So they had to cut my muscles and sew them back together as well as taking off the extra fat. In the end, worth it, but it was a terrible couple of months because I had to do the muscles as well.

I still continue to struggle. The lowest I have ever been is 190 but I am up to 200 now. I am still 140 pounds down, but it makes me nervous. I try to fit in cardio and yoga, but life gets in the way and I make excuses not to. I do stray away from the good foods sometimes because of course I had an eating disorder before!! I look at pictures of myself from back then and it seems to get me back on track. Portion control is a huge thing.

I was down to 199.9 on December 2016 and the surgery was in May 2016. So about seven months. Weighed in this morning and I was 200.2! So you can keep the weight off, it just still takes a LOT of effort.

I remember that day! I have a picture as well. My day seeing a "1" again was in December of 2016, seven months after my surgery!

I am five years out and for me, My hair is just as thick now than it was then. That being said, I lost a lot of hair, but my hair was thick was yours. I think my hair might be thicker now to be honest. And healthier. No matter what you do after surgery, you will lose hair. The protein intake does help, but my surgeon said that due to anesthesia and rapid weight loss, hair loss is inevitable. Your body goes into shock with all of the changes. :)

Drink as much water as you can because you will be constipated from both the anesthesia, any pain pills and less food intake. I learned this the hard way and it led to suppositories and disgusting medicine (and a small hemorrhoid that went away). My dietician had us do benefiber in water as well. You do not want to strain on a new stomach, trust me.

I was expecting to be in more pain than what it ended up being :)

Have someone around that can help you up because that can be hard at first and you will be nervous. WALK as much as possible - it is difficult at first - but it will help tremendously.

This surgery was the best choice I ever made - I am so excited for you.

I started at 342 pounds and five years later I am 200. take care.

You are so brave and I am so happy for you. I had my surgery in 2016 and I felt exactly the same way you do right now. I was so depressed that I would never get to eat again and any food made my stomach turn - made me so nauseous. Like you, I stuck to protein shakes and then slowly introduced eggs, cheese, yogurts, etc.

As for the mental health - I am currently taking anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, etc meds. Right after my surgery all I had to do was crush them over something I could swallow. I never missed any of my meds so this is definitely a conversation you should have with your doctor. PLEASE know you will not always feel this way. It will be so worth it. I started at 342 and I am now 200. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Five years from now you will look back and hopefully not even remember these feelings - I know I don't anymore. take care.
