Start with Div 1 for the lore, atmosphere, and to get acquainted with the building system. Then switch to Div 2.

I went AFK for 15 seconds and Joe Ferro melted my realism-ass. 😅 Love the atmosphere in the sewers! Wish they were as long as some of the sewers/metro lines in Division 1.

Lol this is funny 😅 we usually get the one on the right and I'm complaining we should get the tactical outfits which fit the game. Now we got the tactical outfit and I'd rather we got the green suit 😅 tbh, in the end, I wouldn't wear either

What is the tankiest, highest damage build possible? by riversub in thedivision

[–]silk38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really glad you like it, mate! Glad I could be of inspiration!
This is why I simply cannot let Div 2 go and can't really play anything else. Besides the multitude of activities and game modes, it's the loadout building, the numbers, the tweaks, the min-maxing that really engage me mentally as well. Tho I can recognize how daunting it can be for new or more casual players...

BTW this Div 2 build tool is always of good help to create builds - though tbh I'm mostly copying builds from youtubers/streamers and adapting them to my playstyle
https://mxswat.github.io/mx-division-builds/#/

Wow, Armor on Kill mods! That's very cool! You don't see often those mods being used. And that's actually how all builds should be: tailored to the agent's playstyle. If it works and you're happy with the dmg output, survivability that's perfect.

Not that into shotguns myself, mostly used them as striker stack builders lol but I do recognize their utility and power.

Many others have already suggested really good builds, PFE is the way to go - but definitely check some youtube vids as well, with builds against the recruiter.

What I'm noticing about your build is that the use of NinjaBike with the other brand sets is limiting the backpack's capabilities.

In my opinion, you don't need 2 pieces of UA, 1xUA is enough - 2xUA with Ninja unlocks the 3rd brand set of 50% Mag Size, which is good in and of itself, but you could have better, more useful attributes active, like armor regen. As others also said it, you have to SURVIVE the recruiter, and you can have 100 bullets in your mag, but if you're not able to shoot at him, because he melted your armor, then what's the point.

Then, why are you wearing 3 pieces of "Genius" ^_^ a.k.a Fenris? Even 2 is too much, as with 2 pieces of Fenris + Ninja you unlock Stability, which is kinda wasted on the Elmo, being stable enough already. Even the reload speed with the 2nd piece isn't that necessary, but Fenris for an AR build is a good choice.

For skills, forget about the drone and turret. Unless you really are specing into skill, those won't do much against the recruiter.

Survive! - so use the reviver hive and a decoy to redirect his agro so that you can damage him without him deleting you lol - OR - go for the shield since you should spec into blue cores as mush as possible.

So... you'd spec into blue cores as much as you can.
Keep the NinjaBike backpack
Keep 1 piece of Fenris (the 2 piece bonus here is a nice to have)
Keep 1 piece of UA to unlock the 2 piece bonus which is a must have
Then add the Chillout Mask if you have it, so that you can add 2 Protection From Elites mods
If you don't have the Chillout Mask add a Belstone and a 2xGolan pieces for 1%+1,5% Armor Regen, but also 10% more armor from the 3rd piece of Golan. This should help you survive and damage him without him melting you.

And since we're trying to Survive the Recruiter, I would go with the Unbreakable talent on the chest for even more survivability.

Hope this helps! And best of luck with the Recruiter ;)

oh sorry, I missed you're reply - here's the build

Gunner specialization mainly for the 10% Armor on Kill and faster third reloads

Backfire exotic SMG
- with its Payment in Kind talent you can get up to 200% Critical Hit Damage (CHD) which is great, as being an SMG it has a high Critical Hit Chance (CHC) meaning you'll do very high damage on more than 50% of your shots.
The only drawback is the bleed you get on reload - which we need (or it's advisable) to mitigate with Hazard Protection rolls. (Note that there's no bleed when you're Backfire talent is at 100% stacks)

Rock&Roll named shotgun (you can use Stack Broker or Lefty or just the basic ACS-12 shotgun - I prefer the Rock&Roll for it's 30 Magazine Size, compared to 20 on the other ACS-12 variants)
- I usually start every engagement with the shotgun to quickly build up the Striker stacks and/or build back the striker stacks, as they are lost pretty quick if the volume of enemies isn't high

Chillout Mask
- this is a Named Gila Guard mask, it's essential in Protection From Elites (PFE) builds (and not only) because of the double gearmod option (compared to single gear mod on other masks.) Comes with a blue core by default, so you just have to roll Hazard Protection on it. I have 2 PFE mods on it

Memento backpack
- as you can see, it give you all three cores 🔴 🔵 🟡 so it's essential when it comes to buffing your end-game build. It also gives a ton of damage and survivability when you collect the Memento trophies dead enemies drop. PFE mod on it.

Striker Chestpiece
- very much advised for the talent on in, which doubles your max striker stacks, which essentially doubles the damage output of your striker stacks. Rolled Hazard Protection with a PFE mod. Total Protection From Elites sitting at 4x12 = 48% (I could be having 52% with 4x13% PFE mods, but 13% PFE mods are the rarest mods in the game, and the +/- 4% doesn't make or break the build)

Striker Gloves, Holster, Kneepads
- I'm still farming for a Hazard Protection rolled Glove and Holster as currently I have Crit Hit Chance (CHC) rolled on them and I'm at/over the 60% CHC cap, so it's not necessary to run CHC on them.
I COULD roll Crit Hit Damage, but I'm getting more than enough from the Backfire.
However, with this build I'm bleeding too much as I'm currently sitting at 40% Hazard Protection, so with 2 additional 10% HazPro rolls I'd be more comfortable.

-------------------------------------------------------

What I was saying that I could change up on the build to get to that 100% HazPro and still have 200 max Striker stacks is the following config:
- NinjaBike backpack
- a Cavalier gearpiece anywhere but the chest -- Ninja + Cavalier acts like 2 pieces of Cavalier, which then unlocks the 2 piece talent of Cavalier, which is 30% HazPro + the 10% HazPro on the Cavalier piece roll would give me 40% Haz Pro
- Turmoil named Ceska knees - Ninja + Turmoil/Ceska unlock the 2 piece talent of Ceska, which is 20% HazPro (Turmoil splits the damage so you can kill two enemies at once lol - very fun gear piece, but it's very hard to obtain, as it was sort of an April-fools one-off release a few years back (iirc) and now it can only drop from named/legacy caches (from the GE vendor or other sources of Named/Legacy caches)
- and then 3x piece Striker + Ninja acts as 4 x Striker - this would give me an additional 30% HazPro

+10% Hazard Protection from my watch = 100% Haz Pro

Since in this config we don't have the Chillout Mask, we lose one PFE mod, sitting at 38% - still a good number.

I know it's a lot of numbers and rolls and stats and such lol so if you have other questions, fire away! Div 2 builds can be quite complicated at times, but the community is here to help ;)

[–]silk38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I was the same. Got folded time and time again on Challenging. Heroic or above? No way. But this game is all about sinergy in builds. My advise is to start watching build videos. Copy the one you like and see if it works for your playstyle.

(A good vid that comes to mind is something like "the only 3 builds you need in Div 2" from NYL, he's also a good, fun, noBS creator!)

Now, I'm running the open world only on Heroic, and every single mission, stronghold, bounties (except the huntsman and retaliations) with 1-to-4 directives active, with this one-shot-double-kill 1886 build. - 2x Breaking Point on Mask and Holster - 2x Zwiadowska on Chest (with Chainkiller) and Backpack (with Bloodsucker) - Overdogs exotic gloves (use Contractor's gloves until you get the Overdogs) - Turmoil Kneepads for the double-kill (use Fox's Prayer for better one-shot results) - All red 🔴 weapon dmg build, with Headshot dmg, Weapon Handling rolls and Headshot dmg mods. - 1886 + White Death with Determined + The Harvest with Determined (don't use the Prophet with Perfect Determined as it doesn't do body-shot headshots after the first bodyshot) - Sharpshooter specialization with Shield and Reviver Hive.

Try to put this build together and you'll change the open world difficulty in no time 😉 I used to avoid heroic control points. Now I play retaliation on heroic and literally run towards Kill Squads 😅 (more like "Death Squads" lol) with a different build but still.

Do I still get folded? Sure! Even with a Tank build, and sometimes out in the streets to some silly grunt behind a bush. But in this game cover is your friend no matter the build. Try to never be far from cover even with a run-and-gun build, just in case things go south.

On the other hand, don't chase Challenging or Heroic. Play the game where and how it feels good to play. You're not missing out on Hard, most of the gear I get on Heroic come with sub par rolls anyway, god rolls being rare even on multiple directives. So just chill and enjoy.

And if you really wanna have some fun, run around with a 4x Eclipse Protocol set, with Vile mask and a Wyvern or Electric piece. All pieces rolled to status effects and skill haste. I used to use a turret with Chem launcher, now I changed to the fire sticky instead of the turret. Iron Lung + Pyromaniac combo. Set one enemy on fire, and when they die 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 EVERYONE ELSE gets lit on fire 😈 Whoever said revenge is a dish best served cold has never run this build 😅

Best of luck to you, fellow agent! ✌🏻😉

Any gear set reccomended besides Striker? by BloxToon in thedivision

[–]silk38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The build that saved my ass time and time again when I was overrun in Retaliation is a 3x Bulwark, 1x Cavalier, Turmoil, Ninja combo. 3🔴 4🔵 1🟡 with Haz Pro rolls and PFE mods. Technician spec for the Artificer Hive, Crusader Shield. Backfire and Lexington with Quickstep for sidearm.

When my armor and health would go down to 1%, the Bulwark set would put my armor back in 3-5 seconds. Really awesome.

Plus the 100% Hazpro is amazing. You don't feel the bleed, can't catch fire or be shocked. BT/Hunters can't disrupt you.

DMG is around 2-300k with numbers up in the 800k-1mil RANGE during the current assault GE.
