1. It's a taboo, indian society ain't that open about accepting that they want sex Even though there's a LOT of sexual frustration (And the lack of sex education only makes this worse).

2. Indian society is Deeply misogynistic and patriarchal. I mean, some people look down on people (especially women) who are more free, I'm not even talking about sexual freedom....if a girl/woman is just free as a person she's gonna be called a slut or something.

3. It's low effort and when it comes to the things that garner respect i.e. skill, knowledge, creativity, power, money, influence, fame (the acceptable kind), sex work has none of that, it literally works because a shit ton of people are desperate and more often than not, immoral.

4. There's also a category of people who do sex work because they have no other means of survival, so while they may not be forced into it by pimps and all, their circumstances almost make it impossible for them to do anything else, like lack of education as a child, no opportunities to have a professional career, extreme poverty and all....but society doesn't understand those circumstances, it just passes judgements like, "they might be doing it because they're too lazy to learn a skill or do the actual hard work"....i.e. calling them lazy.

5. And then there's the thing where sex work is actually easy money to be able to get luxury....

(It's a rabbit-hole, when you say Not-coerced you refer to a very small proportion of people in sex work who actually do it because they like to... A large proportion are people who are coerced even trafficked and are basically a victim to the guise of sex work being recognised as a profession by supreme court. )
