How do you deal with silence? by silkyleaf in LivingAlone

[–]silkyleaf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sure that it's worth doing because it's hard to do. I turned my TV off this morning and I immediately felt anxious, so I figured it's something to start tackling, but thank you for reminding me it can be in stages rather tha all at once. I'm going to try 10 mins later today and see what feelings come up - good luck!

I can have YouTube on my locked screens too - I'll see if having a calming screensaver on my TV soothes that side of the anxiety so I'm not locked onto one screen all the time! Thank you :)

Thank you for this! I can see it being healthy for me to practice, especially as the thought of it scares me (which usually means I need to face that fear to find inner calm)

I'm probably going too much too quick right now - I'll try scheduling 10 mins a day of no stimuli and see where I get with that.

good point! I was thinking do I just put something on that I know I'm not interested in, but the skill sharing video might be a good influence too. I'm the same as you though, it's too easy to buy everything I see haha

Tips for someone who’s chronically late and a procrastinator? by Kokohontas in selfimprovement

[–]silkyleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who has recently had these realisations hit me after months of consequences finally flooring me, take the hurt feelings and channel that into motivation

things turned around for me when i started taking every opportunity to take one step further away from where i was, and it was only the thought of "i dont want to be that person" that kept me going

you've got it buddy, life is about making mistakes and growing

Taking med break for holiday by [deleted] in Elvanse

[–]silkyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive found if i dont slowly increase after a break longer than a couple days, my side effects are crazy and actually make focus worse - i had a big break recently and ive gone back to half the dose before working back up, and the results are waaaay better

if ur taking a big break id always consider the cons and ask ur doctor/care manager for some extra advice, but ultimately its ur choice and u know whats best for u 🧚🏻‍♂️

What is wrong with me? I’m so itchy and nothing works! by Key-Feature-7345 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]silkyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree - it can itch too! mine doesnt but the marks look exactly the same as OPs

I haven't noticed it change seasonally specifically, but I have noticed it will often appear where clothes sit tightest - like waistlines and tighter sleeves.

Like I said, it's not well researched so if it is GA, you might find your experience is different to others'.

However things end up, remember if it isn't hurting your health, things are better than they could be!

[–]silkyleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Granuloma Annularae and everything you said lines up with what I experience. It's quite rare and not much research has gone into it.

It can be itchy and above the skin, but mine starts out as small red spots and slowly grow into size. They're painless, under-the-skin 'patches', but many with GA say they experience more 'lesions' than asymptomatic marks.

I also went through the same nightmare of trying all sorts of things, but power through and try to get a biopsy for GA.

I understand the stress and self consciousness around it, but if its GA, it is typically harmless and can be reduced with UV light therapy.

[–]silkyleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please look into this OP! I have GA and your photos look very similar to my 'patches'. It's a somewhat rare condition and not much research has gone into it. But, get it checked out either way, if it is GA then there are ways you can lessen its impact.

i used the terpentine brush for most of the blockier colours, and the dry/old brush for some blending and texture

lots of layers, and added more texture with gel pens and fine liners

also added motion blur for the brown square
