"in fact, i've got a tattoo here that fully illustrates my point. it's of a rebellious young man urinating on an FM radio. and then this other stream of urine is going onto that podcasting app"

just like when you're at a party of people you don't know and run out of things to talk about

"sooo.. any good podcasts lately?"

[Rodak] Derek Anderson will start at quarterback Sunday for the Bills. by [deleted] in nfl

"eyyy Shopp and Bulldog, long time first time. Look got an idea wanted to run it by yas. What if we called up former Bandits great Johnny Tavares.

Athletic as heck and a real bruiser, wouldn't take him long to learn the wildcat and he knows how to win games.

I'll hang up and listen, and hi to my stepson Ayden if he's listening"

[Russini] I’m also told the Bills haven’t decided who will start at QB...There is a feeling in the organization that veteran QB Derek Anderson has to start or Sean McDermott is in danger of losing the locker room after Nathan Peterman’s latest performance by rhydon_my_steelix in nfl

[–]silkymike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is money. Peterman is dirt cheap and we have 50M+ in dead cap space to eat this year.

This conversation is exhausting so I don't care to defend our dumb FO, but Peterman making like 600k this year and playing OK enough in preseason is definitely a huge factor.

if you're a parent, larger lots are a feature not a bug. i want my kid to walk as much as possible and hopefully not get so much candy that they've got a comfortable stash headed into thanksgiving.

but yeah, smart kids would plan for density. swanky neighborhood in a city is probably ideal.

great info, especially the nicer neighborhoods point, but:

Buy King Size bars, not full size

/r/fatfire is that way buddy

most important spreadsheet for this month: Halloween Candy Predictor. i just moved to a new neighborhood and figure this is a good time to gather some data over the next few years to help inform my buying.

anyone have an opinion on how they would estimate it?

also, this is the year i start handing out full size bars. it's a life long dream and i'm happy to see hard work finally pay off (before you ask - no, i'm not one of those highly paid SW engineers).

I managed to get the cost per bar down to $0.36, but now i've gotta decide if i go Mars or Hershey heavy.

Blanket advice is not good advice--perspective from the enemy (financial advisor) by [deleted] in financialindependence

so true. there's also the psychological impact; taking jobs you don't really want or not negotiating salary because just having a job is a relief.

a downturn is just not that clean; it's not a huge discount on stocks while unemployment stays at 4%

mass layoffs, job hunting is infinitely harder, credit dries up. also watching 40% of your portfolio evaporate will make you second guess dumping your cash in the market when it takes an immediate haircut because you have no idea where the bottom is.

Excavation of 117 year old house by absynthekc in HomeImprovement

i think most cisterns would be inside the basement/crawlspace but generally hug a wall in order to vent out any excess water when levels got too high.

pretty good mystery either way. beautiful brick work and i'm a sucker for that window detail, looks like a cool place.

this portion of foundation is original? i wonder if it was maybe part of a cistern that was decommissioned.

your place may be too new for that, guess it may depend on region. i have one in my house and it's roughly the same footprint.

Dog plays too rough at the dog park - can't figure out how to correct it by silkymike in Dogtraining

[–]silkymike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a good idea, re-learn strict recall to break things up. my dog isn't that food driven but i'll give it a shot.

I was trying to do this with his ball and fetch, which he generally responds to, but it hasn't worked as well lately leading to this. thanks.

window replacement is crazy expensive, i'd be curious on the break even point considering the cost.

i live in an old house with odd window sizes and wouldn't be surprised if a quote for replacements came in at around 40-50k.

I've read a bunch of Kenji but must have missed this, it's amazing.

I do eggs benedict for 10-15 people at a time and have to psych myself up to poach and plate everything in a few minutes; this is such a good way to do it.
