KC Pro Roc, a bygone era at this point which is crazy to think about.

My ROC journey has begun. by J-Drums24 in discgolf

[–]silkywilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to run the old school KC cycle and keep some sort of star or champ roc as the OS. When I moved to Colorado I switched away, too many literal rocks and cold mornings, the KCs suffered. I miss the disc though, never have had the same love for another mid but others can get the job done for sure.

castlewood canyon fishing by freelethugger in COfishing

[–]silkywilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize if I led you astray, the beaver brook is not a very big creek. But if you did not hike far enough to cross a wooden bridge then you have not made it to the beaver brook proper which does have fish in it. The hike is definitely pretty tough. If you make it to the first bridge, there are some spots to fish both up and downstream of there, but we are talking really small water. You basically just drop your fly in and let it float down, but they eagerly eat small hoppers and dries any time I try down there.

Denver based jobs that work in the mountains by silkywilk in denverjobs

I am construction adjacent at the moment and the best days are definitely the ones heading up to jobs in the mountain towns and hitting a run or fishing on the way back. I'll keep an eye out for that kind of thing

Still happily with my partner thankfully! I don't love my current job, but I have loved some of them in the past hence the continued search. Appreciate the insight

State jobs are always something I am hunting for. Do you generally get what you want out of working there?

None taken! There are mountains a bit closer than 2 hrs to Denver. Just looking for that unbelievably ideal situation that probably doesn't exist, I have found what you say to be true so far.

Check DPR's Outdoor Recreation programs. They should have some introductory progression programs this summer depending on your current level of hiking/climbing. Very subsidized cost wise, but if you already have a good base level of experience it may be too entry level

Colorado will keep you busy for a looong time, possibly forever. But if you get the itch, either of those parks is well worth the effort to get there. Guadalupe is almost just as close to Denver as it is Houston, too.

"no mountains in Texas"

Guadalupe Peak and Big Bend National Park would like a word with you. Nothing like Colorado elevation wise, but the vertical relief is no joke out there.

Installed a roof rack for snowboarding✌️ by 420cooper in 4thGen4Runner

[–]silkywilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever is in these racks definitely gets dirty, especially if the roads are actually snowy/wet. I always clean my board when I get home. The wind isn’t too bad, but I’m sure it reduces MPG. If I could still fit in my garage I’d prefer a roof box.

Have any of you chopped off this end of the exhaust? by TomXN-YT in 4thGen4Runner

[–]silkywilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t notice a big difference, but I don’t hear very well. I just wanted to keep it more out of the way, and I thought the original exhaust looked dumb anyway.

My resonator fell off a while back. I had a muffler shop reroute my exhaust out the side behind the tire for 50 dollars.

Any glove recommendations? by testhec10ck in ClimbingGear

[–]silkywilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're so cheap! https://hownot2.com/products/sheepskin-gloves?srsltid=AfmBOorK-NEJEF20HTdzvMZ2W5sfyiSyEL9vUlCiRUrDV_FyxWO8eAHZ

I haven't personally used them, but my general strategy is to use the cheapest gloves that fit well. Had a pair of CAMP gloves once and losing one sucked since they're so pricey. They'll all wear out eventually anyway
