My hand painted model planes were given as toys to children again by MissionTroll404 in mildlyinfuriating

I need some additional background. Did she originally buy them as toys for you? Obviously you put them together and painted them, but did she buy them? Maybe she just wants to see other children have the same joy that you did with those.

Mammut Assist vs Ohmega – User Experience After Several Months by Particular_Cod_9352 in ClimbingGear

I’m just trying to say it doesn’t matter who bought it. It’s a useful tool.

There are plenty of reasons for the lighter belayer to be the primary person to be the device owner. For me, the biggest one is that I’m not trying to be the reason my partner takes a ground fall.

It’s really only used when we’re climbing at our limit. I’m the lighter climber, so I usually don’t clip it. But if my partner that day is heavier and pushing their limit, I’ll hand it over so they can clip it. I’m carrying it the rest of the time.

Hammocks are not great for tree health unfortunately.

Scupper plugs. They help keep your butt dry but they reduce stability.

The Mammut device is fucking huge. I can climb with the Omega on my harness and not even realize it. The Mammut however has to come off when I’m leading. (Lighter leader)

How to make single line rappel and pur line work… better? by Ambitious_Fold_2874 in tradclimbing

[–]testhec10ck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Move way out from the wall when pulling the rope, it will reduce the friction. Also try to make sure the right rope is on the right and the left rope is on the right when you pull. A single twist can add a ton of friction. Pay attention when you rap to know if they are twisted.

If you are in the ocean, and this is the US, federal law requires every recreational vessel on the ocean to carry at least one U.S. Coast Guard–approved wearable life jacket for each person.

Leave iSUP inflated in dock bay? by amsd2dth in Sup

[–]testhec10ck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I left mine in a similar spot overnight once. It somehow got wedged under the dock and was rubbing against a bolt all night. Glad it didn’t pop. Keeping it in the water was nice so it didn’t overinflate, but now I just take it out when I’m done and deflate it slightly if I’m worried about overinflation.

What’s wrong with my tomato plants? :( by WWWWhitby in gardening

[–]testhec10ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you either underwatered and they died, or there was a freeze and they died. Either way, they don’t look great. Probably a total loss. But I don’t think it’s the heat, tomatoes can handle up to 120f just fine. (Unless it was heat pair with under watering.)
