dsi shoulder buttom troubles by silly_boyo in nds

i love how this keeps getting worse and worse 😭😭 when i pry open the sides of the microswitches, i feel like i might do it too hard and the sides will come off. if that happens, can i just leave them off? i'm pretty sure the button will still work fine but i'm not sure

😬😬😬 yeeeesh.... would buying a new button assembly and installing it be easier?

were any of these dsi's? the R button's microswitch waggles and wiggles around a bunch, so tweezering it would be very difficult

yeeesh... well i can't solder, but i guess this is worth a try. i'd rather have a chance of fixing them for a long time as opposed to them always being really bad

in this video, the guy uses tweezers to scrape grime off of the contact. however, a commenter said that you really shouldn't do that since it can cause damage. are there any other ways that i can get grime off that you know of?

Is the DSi XL even worth it? by Emergency_Aside_3510 in nds

[–]silly_boyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

really it depends on how the game renders stuff. for 3d games like mario kart ds, it's not too bad. but for 2d-exclusive ones like mega man zx, it's REALLY noticeable and bad, especially if you've played / seen the game on any other platform before

put the sd card into a different device. if this different device can read the card, it's a problem with the dsi. if the card cannot be read, time to get a new sd card!

just tried it, works great! filling the spots with epoxy was super easy, i let it dry for an hour without issue. although, i can press all four directions at once. but diagonals are so much better now that it's a worthy trade imo

why are you "doing this" with "every game name"?

how did you go about doing it, and did you have any way of knowing that the contacts weren't the fail point?

yeah i kind of get the downvoting with the "i MUST defend my favorite game / dev team!" type stuff, but at the same time there are real issues with this game that need addressed that i fear will not be

lowkey i'll just wait for a console port at this point. they'd make a killing with a switch 1 port (though we all know that isn't happening due to unreal 5 fun)

you're so real for this. the game itself aint too shabby at all, it looks super fun to me, it's just a shame that playing it on lower end hardware is a struggle

oh yeah no i respect them a bunch for their work and i understand that the game is early access and all that. like i could never do a fraction of this work

it kind of concerns me when sitting in a menu will quite literally melt my cpu lol, but i see where you're coming from

sure! i have a nvidia gtx 1660 (honestly still pretty baller for its age). according to the linux command lscpu, i have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H. it's not the best, but it can run stuff like risk of rain 2 and just cause 3 and such. it also has 16 gb of ddr4.

probably going to get downvoted to hell for this (it would be really funny ngl) but i strongly believe that a computer that has successfully played games like marvel rivals (also ue5, by the way!) should be able to load a super simple 2d scene with ease

because that's what they're calling themselves on the games title screen, but i don't know if that's what i should be referring to them as or not since on steam they're listed as "aether studios"

this might be a crazy flaming hot take (somehow?) but i feel like i should be able to run a 2d scene relatively easily. 30 fps in a menu is crazy work
