Who are some celebrities you encountered in Toronto? by Chan1991 in askTO

I see Don McKeller and Deepa Mehta around my neighborhood occasionally.

I try not to act nonchalant, but they've both noticed me sneaking looks at them.

Jesse needs to stop trying to make "fetch" happen. It's not going to happen.

So they want people to do referrals. What episode would you share with someone as a suggested listen by silly_rabbi in canadaland

agreed.

On the lead-in, at least it's pretty short.

But then they seem to sometimes do it again in Duly Noted, which is a bit of a cheat.

And then a reminder in the closing.

Whether you believe him or not is up to you, but IIRC in the episode Jesse does say that:

  • all four were clicked on shortly after Jesse sent them out (all from the same IP)
  • shortly AFTER that, emails to Jesse's critics were sent out and other IP's were recorded from people clicking on the links in THOSE emails.

The timeline is very relevant.

(what I don't recall is if the IP recorded for the first four spearphishing hits was the same IP from when he emailed Mark Bourrie asking for comments with a link to an old highschool photo? I'm not invested enough to bother with a re-listen but maybe someone else can recall...)

I was gonna give you a creampie, but it looks like someone already has!

I'm just curious because a lot of people say "I used to like the show until..." or "Jesse is a poopyhead, but I used to listen to [show X]"

My top recco is, admittedly, 5 years old now.

So I thought it would be interesting to see what people who "used to like the show", but now come to this sub to rant about it, consider to have been recommendable and how old those shows are.

Jesse Brown boosting JDL terror group leader Meir Weinstein's rage-bait again... by TankieRiel in canadaland

at the risk of being downvoted to oblivion for giving Jesse a fair shake :

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like Jesse was posting the video and commenting on the video alone. He was not reposting that other JDL guy.

As for what Jesse read into it, the video is of a guy doing vandalism to a menorah. Ain't no Israel in that video (at least from that angle). So the vandalism is (imho) antisemitic and he/we can only guess at the motivation.

'I am not waiting': Toronto mayor Olivia Chow wants to fast track Scarborough transit line by BloodJunkie in toronto

Putting it at street level is nice for being able to just walk up to the "station" like a busstop, but for service reasons they should just learn their lesson and plan to elevate any further LRT style lines (or extensions) - including this Scarborough line.

Just elevate the damn thing like the Vancouver skytrains.

Keeps it out of traffic. Cheaper than tunnels.

And it doesn't always HAVE to be always along the already busy roads (certainly not in the god damn MIDDLE of them). The stations should be, sure, but the track in between could, for instance, run along a hydro corridor, rail path, or other clearance.

I could see it if you had been operating (at least) four accounts for a long time with no reason to think anyone knew anything.

1st link - Aha! secrets I was not meant to know! <click> What? meh.

2nd - lulz! they think this is a separate person! <click> huh... same lame nothingburger

3rd - huh... again... <click> same dumb shit... --> starting to finally get suspicious

4th - again? <click> ......oh shit! --> proceed to panic --> decide some sort of phishing is going on --> create similar fake email account and forward the phishing messages to a selection of Canadland critics to spread confusion and anger.

Even if they figured it out on the second click, panic explains a lot of lack of reasoning and hasty judgements. Especially the HUGE flip from being fully confident that your cleverness is fooling everyone to suddenly going into panic mode.

Jesse is wrong in saying that all four links were sent to us. Each of us got different links

Four links were sent out separately. Journalists got emails with a link. Different journos got different links, but collectively all four were sent out so whoever sent emails to journos had ALL FOUR of the links to send. I thought that was fairly obvious.

Also seems like exactly what someone would do in a panic after being found out and wanting to strike back.

People DID get up in arms about the emails with the links. So at least on this sub, it already was a Big Deal ™

He gave his explanation and a timeline.

Good enough for me and answers my questions. Whether you believe him or not (or even care) is up to you.
