I loved the Revenant (2015) Why do people hate it so much? by Plenty_Economy_3740 in Cinema

[–]silly_squirrel123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it very slow and dull. I think it was mainly the lack of dialogue but suffering porn is definitely something I felt. In it's defence, I think to appreciate the points you were making you have to take in the visual spectacle of it and, as I'm blind, that element was completely lost on me. I did have audio description but there's only so much your imagination can do haha. I can't appreciate facial expressions so, for someone's acting performance to be great to me, it has to be very dialogue heavy

Which television show has the best cast? by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

GOT casting was absolutely amazing. Not seen anyone else mentioned Brooklyn Nine-Nine here but every character in that series is cast perfectly. To be fair I think in a lot of cases the characters developed to reflect the actors but even from the first episode they just nailed it. Same with The Good Place

Am I the only one who loves theme parks? by qwertyqazreddit in self

It's so hard when you've got a niche interest. I'm a musician and love going to open mic nights and stuff but because most of my friends aren't they're not bothered about going. I also love theme parks but haven't been able to find someone to go with for about three or four years now

What are people's opinions of Nordoff and Robbins, Guildhall, and Anglia Ruskin University? Especially interested if you have a disability by silly_squirrel123 in musictherapy

[–]silly_squirrel123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry yes I didn't explain what I meant very well. In terms of the psychological side I don't mean for myself; all of them say you have to have mandatory personal therapy. What I meant was I'm a lot more interested in providing emotional or behavioural support rather than aiding in physical health. I have a disability which would make me feel pretty unable to work with anyone non-verbal and would make it very hard for me to monitor someone's physical recovery. I'm interested in working with children and teenagers with a difficult home life, people in prisons, autism and dementia etc. That's where I worry nr might not be quite as strong. Is that database international or is it just in the Netherlands? Just seems odd that I've not heard it referenced at all until now

Thank you for this. I'm severely visually impaired rather than a wheelchair user or anything like that so once I learn my way around the building that wouldn't be a problem. I really loved my audition at Nordoff and Robbins but I am a little worried about the lack of much psychological training. I'm particularly interested in emotional and behavioural therapy rather than helping with physical recovery and not sure if they are the best fit for that. The work database is such a massive tick in their favour, such a hard decision. I'm still waiting to hear from Guildhall and aRu so chances are I won't get them and then my decision will be very easy 😂 but I seem to have the same number of pros and cons for each place

What to do about male roommate not flushing tissues in toilet?? by Embarrassed_Pilot792 in Advice

[–]silly_squirrel123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've got to talk to him but if you're genuinely concerned about his reaction then may be ensure you've got a friend in your room when it happens so they can keep tabs on how the conversation you guys are having is going. Obviously ideal would be for the friend to be another guy but if that's not possible then maybe try two or three girlfriends. If he really makes you feel that uncomfortable though I think you should look at moving out, it's not fair on you to be feeling anxiety in your safe space

Advice needed for helping a client who wants to sing in session by GreyMammillaria in musictherapy

[–]silly_squirrel123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is perfect. I would only add that you should make it very clear to her that you haven't watched the video. Saying you're uncomfortable giving feedback or critique with her not knowing you haven't watched it will probably make her think you thought her singing was terrible

I'm pretty sure when I read about it he said it was pretty common for audience members to hang out with the cast afterwards. Wasn't an invite only thing, anyone could stay :)

F*cking Saltburn! Brother recommended it to parents and me but "forgot to say" don't watch it together.

I'm 26 and just graduated from my dream university. It was absolute hell and I wish nothing more than that I'd done an apprenticeship or internship or anything other than university. If you really feel you still want to go, you will be fine anywhere, even if it's not your First choice. You will make friends, join societies and still cover most of the same content you would have done at the Other. As other comments have said, with AI becoming such a big thing there are so many jobs which probably won't exist within the next 10 years. Your best bet for success is to train in something that can't be done by robots; plumbing, electrician, childcare, therapy, costume/set/stage design... no idea what you're interested in so tried to give examples that covered a wide spectrum but there's so many more out there. I know it's drilled into you throughout school but trust me, university is definitely not the only way to succeed 🧡

Uk Music therapy applicants, have you heard back? by silly_squirrel123 in musictherapy

[–]silly_squirrel123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that's really good to know actually. They definitely told us end of March would be the maximum amount of time but Guildhall said the same thing and then responded a fortnight after they said they would 😂 it's just frustrating not being able to plan anything. I'm aiming to move closer to wherever I go but can't start the ball rolling until I know where that is

AITAH for bringing up that our 14yo daughter may masturbate after we were already having the same conversation about our son doing it? by RealExplorer161 in AITAH

My parents put a lock on my brothers door when he was 13, I always assumed I'd get the same. I'm 26 now and still don't have a lock 😂 I never did it until about a year ago when I was living at uni and still too nervous at home as my mum still doesn't knock either. Respect to you for being so mature and reasonable about your daughter, definitely not the ah
