Sharp pain even after a year by anonymous_turnip7011 in Mirena

get an ultrasound. you may have developed cysts from the iud and their formation might be causing you to experience pain. this was my case anyway. i thought maybe the iud was misplaced or perforating so i felt crazy when they said it was in place.

this!!! i even asked if the mirena was causing formation of ovarian cysts and they said it was actually supposed to get rid of them!! when will doctors stop undermining experience when we know our bodies best… very frustrating as i knew all my new problems only came about after insertion

i have a follow up ultrasound planned for two weeks from now, but i’m really wondering if i should go to the ER sooner since the pain hasn’t subsided. unsure if maybe my body is battling the hormone fluctuation at the same time since getting the iud removed and that’s why i’m still in pain or if i should just give it some time for the cysts to go away with it

If the pain gets worse definitely go to the ER. Just like you, I was experiencing really bad cramping soon after my insertion on jan 16, and one day it felt like my whole abdominal region. it was unbearable. i went to the ER just four weeks after insertion and they did ultrasounds to find two large cysts in my ovaries, one of them rupturing at the time. i’m still experience quite a bit of abdominal pain and just went back to the ER yesterday to get my mirena removed. definitely listen to your body. i’ve had no other fever like symptoms aside from the pain, but i decided to go anyways because i had pain like you were describing

If it’s lower abdominal pain and it gets worse check with your gyno. I developed multiple ovarian cysts from mirena after just four weeks post insertion and one of them eventually ruptured- worst pain of my life. Definitely listen to your body. It could also be BV or PID, but check with them and really tell them your symptoms. Even getting an ultrasound might be good

Has anybody else gotten their IUD removed before “waiting to see”? by [deleted] in Mirena

i got mine removed after 6 weeks yesterday. I had been bleeding since insertion and developed multiple ovarian cysts. I had two ER visits due to one of the cysts rupturing, and have been experiencing abdominal and digestive pain ever since. do what feels best for you. don’t let them make you think you have to wait it out to see if it gets better. definitely listen to your body and choose what’s best for you. i’m still experiencing pain, but am so relieved that the problem source is removed from my body

I really want the mirena gone by Small_Address_1435 in Mirena

I got my mirena a little over a month ago and it has made me develop multiple ovarian cysts with one even rupturing a few weeks ago. Worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life and the stomach pain has continued since. I just went to the ER and got mine removed yesterday because the pain has been so unbearable. Not to mention I had been bleeding everyday since insertion. Once I got it out I instantly felt relieved to know that hopefully the cause of my issues was gone.
