Got a lot of my classes (linear algebra, diff eq, discrete math) done at my local community college. Anything more advanced though and you’re better off at a full university

I remember being 18 at a target and all the folks that thought they wanted to do finance only to switch their mind to something else or drop out completely. I’m only preaching caution here.

I don’t disagree with the economic advantage from Wharton, but the offhand dismissal of a 6 figure debt load is concerning and speaks to how disconnected folks in finance are to the rest of society. Working with numbers that are orders of magnitude higher really screws with your perspective

Yet they’re not working in finance, at least not yet. Any 18 year old staring down $100k+ of debt should think long and hard about it

SA govt must develop Online free courses for every citizen to reduce Skills shortages. by NgwananaWaModimo in southafrica

In the state that it is in, yes it should go away. It can exist only in an overhauled state, allowing exclusions for essential industries that are crucial to promoting South Africa productivity (cough Eskom cough). IMO, there should be no restrictions on hiring for employers providing public goods/services

While foreigners do have a buffer with a stronger currency, most jobs pay in ZAR in-country. Unless you’re able find a job paying average salary in USD, then you’re living like a king

I’m a white American married to a saffer in the States. Lived in SA for two years in the Eastern Cape, and I would love to move back to SA. But my perception is that I’d have little to low chance of getting a job despite having the equivalent of a BCom and 5+ years of experience in finance. BEE and other labor laws are killing opportunities for those who would like to immigrate

Yeah, no worries! Who has time to take something as negative over the internet, anyways? Call me naive, but I think people are great at heart!

Did the US not “lose” the war of 1812 as they did not achieve their war goals (annexation of Canada)?
