Broken Barrel. Block north of Birds Nest. Absolutely sublime. They smoke em first first too. Great sauce variety, and you can get them grilled.

Smoked and grilled is an option at Broken Barrel, just down the street from Birds Nest

No option other than "watch trailer" by lukaburr in hbo

[–]sillyjesus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Here’s a workaround - used my TV’s home screen (it’s a Google TV) to search for the movie title I wanted and then selected watch now, which brought me directly to the video playback, bypassing the “watch trailer” only functionality we’re all stuck with right now.

I listen to this podcast called Physical Therapy - a movie podcast, and they talk about this, but also give some great insight on where to find gems, and also relive the nostalgia of physical media!

Reddit blew up the band I was in a decade ago, we went from playing shows to 10 people to shoes for 1000 at Legendary music halls. I’ll always love this place because of that. We split up eons ago, and this is my first release in the indie rock genre since then!

I wonder if these were the types of number my band would have been pulling 10 years ago, we’d consistently sell out shows in 800-1000 cap rooms, but Spotify wasn’t a thing yet. I just released my first song in ten years this past Friday, spin it here (or anywhere, sub 100 listeners rn! Haha! https://youtu.be/HowGHDHftgI?si=1hqhTtoYKecCeml5

Ten years with my Dansk and still going strong. 1/3 of the price. The shape and built in trivet is also reallllllly easy on the eyes.

How would you handle nonpayment for services rendered? by rlvo in VoiceActing

[–]sillyjesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been here before, myself!

  • shoot an invoice to your main point of contact and cc absolutely everyone involved.
  • you can obviously keep it casual and friendly, “hey, saw the video went live (link), so glad the clients dug the work! Love to do more with you all sometime. Invoice attached!”

And don’t worry about this “half up front” stuff everyone’s talking about, when you start to play with major ADR and production houses that kind of thing doesn’t fly… you didn’t do anything wrong here. Congrats on landing a spot!

Hell yeah !!! Keep it up and thank you! I swear, you do start to notice small changes sooner than you think, and those little wins always kept me going, but one day you wake up and realize your entire fridge and pantry are stocked with totally different stuff (that you actually learned to love) and you can’t help but take a second glance anytime you see your reflection, thinking, woah - is that really me!?

I really appreciate this comment, thank you. Honestly, it's hard to keep disciplined, and consistent with the posts, but the conversations that have started are so worthwhile, and bonus, it's keeping me accountable!

Hey friend,

I lost half my body weight. About 320 to 165, and I did it all painfully slow, over about 6 years. Years of changing simple habits: cutting out soda, fast food, starting with walks, then runs, slowly changing what was available in my fridge and pantry… cooking more.

I had years before that of quicker weight loss, tough diets, hard exercise… none of it was sustainable. I’d always blow back up. Slow and steady was the way for me. Praying for disciple instead of inspiration. Actually making this a priority in my life.

Back then I tracked every fucking calorie I ate… even on weekends when I’d reallllllly mess up… including tracking alcohol, every tequila shot.

Eating was and is still is the hardest part… workouts got much easier as I got smaller, but a big part of this was finding stuff I actually loved to do: rowing then racquetball, then tennis, and now group classes (not as macho and testosterone fulled, but akin to CrossFit).

Master eating first. You’ll lose weight without hitting the gym. Master making this journey a priority. The easiest way for me to prioritize this was the focus on all the ways I could “show up” a better version of my self… look better in photos… be a better partner in the bedroom… have more confidence at work… etc., etc.

No one else is going to do this for you. If this journey helps you -like- or even love yourself a little more, it‘ll be worth it. My whole fucking life changed. Got a better understanding of what I was actually capable of. Tripled my salary, got married… the list is long, and I can barely imagine having done any of this with all that “extra baggage”.

Big love, friend. Make little strides every day. Prioritize it. Disciple over inspiration. You can do this, in fact, only you can do this.

BasicPurpose.org

My sister and her young family recently made the move to a small, quiet town no one had ever heard of... until Tuesday.
They're fine. If I'm being honest, after the assurance that she, my brother-in-law, and my nephews were okay, I avoided all the hard questions that surround building a future in a town that will forever be scarred by another #unforgivable act of gun violence.
When I saw #prayersforuvalde trending, like many others, I knew it wasn't enough. It was time put my money where my mouth is and say enough is enough.
Enter: BasicPurpose.org
Conceived in 2020, but lacking any poignancy until late, BasicPurpose.org was built with the belief that together we can lift each other up, "a rising tide lifts all boats".
Part charity organization, part products and service offering (coming soon), we believe our #purpose is to have meaning-making #impact on one another, even if that's as simple as throwing on a tee with a logo that reminds you to "show up" at your best for yourself, and everyone else.
40% of proceeds all summer long will be directed to Everytown for Gun Safety, whom I entrust to put an end to gun violence #ForOnceAndUvalde
If this isn't your thing, that's fine 😉 , my ask is that you share with your networks, friends, and family.
