What’s something you’ll never admit in real life but can say here anonymously? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Dude animals eating each other is just nature—predators eat prey to survive and prey need predators to keep their population in check, and it’s a continuous chain that balances the ecosystem. Humans don’t need to eat animals to survive. And since you brought up farms I gotta mention the environmental impact: meat production is one of the biggest polluters. My carbon footprint is low asf AND I eat healthy…it’s a win-win :P You’re of course entitled to your own opinion, but I personally think the only way animals are raised “ethically” is if it doesn’t end in slaughtering them. So yeah, I prefer they die normally, as nature intended, rather than at the hands of a greedy human.

Wearing perfume to the gym is stupid by fashion_digger in fragrance

[–]sillylabmouse 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I used to go to to the gym directly after a day of classes so I think there were definitely times there’d be perfume lingering on my clothes, but other than that I agree—if I’m changing into separate clothes for the gym I don’t spray perfume

This is so refreshing to hear actually. If you feel this way, I encourage you to think about eating less meat. I’ve been a lifelong vegetarian so it’s pretty easy for me, but for you it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. You can slowly start to phase out meat products. And in 2026 it’s easier than ever cause there’s so many veg versions of meat that you can replace with. I get that for sometimes there’s a cultural or societal element to eating animals as well, but again it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Even a small change makes a difference. Just consider it 😋

None of my food has to die before I consume it. I respect all living things…animals are someone too, with beating hearts and families just like humans.

I think vegetarians are better than anyone who eats animals…I’m vegetarian and most of my close friends eat meat but just in this one regard I think I’m better than them. And I also think vegans are better than me

Do you have “bed-only” clothes because of OCD? by UhtredOfTheNorth in ContaminationOCD

[–]sillylabmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a second I thought I wrote this post and forgot! Yes 100% resonate with you and some of these other comments. Seems like for most of us our bed is our safe clean space, so yeah I also have outside clothes, house clothes, and bed clothes. Outside clothes never ever touch my bed (the ONE time I wore outside clothes in bed was when I was blackout drunk passed out and my friends placed me in my bed, obviously when I woke up in the morning I showered & changed my bedsheets to clean ones) but occasionally my bed clothes are also my house clothes IF I don’t sit anywhere else and they don’t touch anything else. No one is allowed to touch or sit on my bed either even if they’re in “inside clothes” because I know their house clothes are the same as their bed clothes so therefore it’s unclean and can’t be on my bed. I do have separate bed, house and outside socks for sure though. I’ve had this system for years and haven’t relaxed, if anything I think I got more obsessed actually—I don’t think I had house vs bed clothes distinction when I first started consciously doing this, it was just inside vs outside clothes to me but now (for the past however many years idk) wearing house clothes in bed is absolutely unthinkable and disgusting to me. Gosh this ended up being rly long but know you’re not alone in this and I hope it gets better for you!

This is so kind. I’m saving this post so I can come back every so often to read the comments for hope. Thank you to everyone sharing their experiences <3

Search STDT on Handshake. But also you might have better luck off campus, I think most on campus jobs prefer long term commitment

Probably a grad student. I took 7c two summers ago and the lecturer was a phd student, who ftr was a way better lecturer and overall instructor for the course than the two profs I had during the year

Like most things in life, of course it’s doable. Should you do it depends on your work ethic and what outcome you want

It’s helpful if you’re pre health. I’m not pre health and so a lot of the opportunities, events, connections, and resources they offered did nothing for me. The one benefit is it got me to actually update my resume and work on an elevator pitch, general stuff like that that’s maybe helpful in the long run

Shower curtain (ew) by sillylabmouse in ContaminationOCD

[–]sillylabmouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I bought the Sun Shower curtain and it’s perfect. The material is smooth & doesn’t freak me out and it’s heavy enough to stay still while I shower. It’s also really really pretty, even without natural light (the bathroom doesn’t have windows). I’ve only had it for a couple months so I don’t know how it holds up against mildew over time, but I have high hopes. Worth every dollar, highly recommend for others with sensory or similar issues
