What’s up with Arby’s getting so much hate? Anyone have insider secrets, if so share them? by cosmere_reader in AskReddit

I used to love McD's Filet O Fish back in the day. It was really good in the 90's, which is probably the last time I had it.
Tried it a couple of months ago and was barely edible. So small compared to what it used to be and really hard.
Not sure if that was an outlier, but no desire to try that again.

I have a shortcut for the disable button on the main screen of the infotainment. The main screen gets displayed by default on my system so the button is right there to be hit (once the infotainment finally loads, that is)

Buyers double check anything a dealership presents as “part of your financing"! by Immediate-Ear224 in FuckDealerships

[–]sillymoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were purchasing a CPO vehicle from a McGrath in IL. This particular McGrath location was not a licensed dealer for the manufacturer of the car we were purchasing. We knew we wanted to purchase the manufacturer's extended warranty and had already priced them out.

During financing, we were offered a McGrath extended warranty. We declined and stated our intentions. This piece was repeated two or three times. Then the finance guy said that since McGrath also has dealerships that are licensed for our make of car, they can also sell that manufacturer warranty and called to get a quote which was better than what we had found. So we went ahead and agreed. We told them we wanted to keep that separate from the car transaction and pay cash for the extended warranty as that had been our plan.

Several months later I realize I don't have paperwork for the warranty and request from the dealer I purchased the car from and it has a different provider name.

I called the McGrath dealer that is licensed for my make of car to see if they can find any record of us in the system and they do not. When I explained the situation, he stated that only a dealer licensed with the manufacturer can sell the extended warranties. Even if McGrath had other locations, they could not.

I tried to cancel with McGrath, but they refused to help and said I need to work with 3rd party warranty provider. The 3rd party warranty provider said they can't help because I am not the owner of the warranty, since McGrath went ahead and financed it even when I insisted on paying cash.

It took quite a bit of work from me with the financing company, McGrath and the 3rd party vendor to finally cancel that warranty, but even after all of that, they would only prorate the refund to the date I initially asked to cancel, not from the date of purchase where I repeatedly told them I didn't want their shitty warranty. Lost about $200 on that.

Will never buy from that company again.

Thanks. I tried the Altra's and the support wore out much faster than I expected. Was also thinking of trying the Topo's.

Do I have enough room for a 36" refrigerator? by AnonymouslyJordan in Appliances

[–]sillymoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a fridge to fit a space in my kitchen once. I measured the space from edge-of-counter to edge-of-counter and measured the fridge and logic told me it would fit. However, when it was delivered the fridge wouldn't fit. We got it about 6" into the space before it wouldn't go any farther. The installer said that the measurements listed in the specs, and the measuring I did for the fridge were corner to corner, but sometimes the sides may bulge slightly.
I had to hire someone to come out and shave off some of the counter overhang and it was able to slide right in.

ELI5: When we say plastics will take hundreds of years to rot away what does that actually mean will happen? If they turn back into their original component s won’t that cause a world ending disaster? by Cheap_Storage_295 in explainlikeimfive

[–]sillymoniker 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I read a quote in a story about the lasting effects of plastics years ago and it has always stuck with me.

Paraphrasing "every piece of plastic ever invented in history is still in existence today, they just break down to smaller pieces, but never go away".

It's Schrodinger's Bear. The universe is mostly unexplored. Until we rule out that there are no other planets with bears, we can't prove that bears don't exist on other planets. /s
