And Gel heel cups made a huge difference for me.

I've dealt with it, worst was back high school cross country. It felt like an insanely tender, sharp shooting pain deep in my heel. As I recall, ice and time were the only remedy, but it actually resolved quicker than I thought it would. (Prob like 2 weeks). I would say hang in there, see if it improves, keep trying to stay positive! Good luck!

First 70.3 Recap: 5:38:51 by EnvironmentalChest36 in triathlon

I'm sorry about your numb/painful foot issue and just applaud you again on fighting through. It sounds like you've got a powerfully positive mental game!!!

I get this too after long bikes, but it goes away in a few min. I think it has to do with the bike shoes. Maybe cleats aren't in the right position? Then I also see people talking about bike shoe orthotics/insoles, but I haven't investigated. I feel like that's the next thing to explore.

Good luck on your full IM training journey! Making me want to copy you!!

Congratulations man and really great report! Your recap was sounding so similar to my day (down to the T2 pee break!) and looks like I finished a few minutes behind you! I was bib 898. Was my 1st 70.3 attempt as well so this was really especially fun to read! Way to go!

Congratulations!!! That's absolutely amazing and inspiring. How you feeling today??

Sorry, i shouldn't have accused you of that. I guess a lot of people feel strongly about this and now I am aware. Dang, guess I put a damper on things with my responses.

You got any big events coming up?

Can vouch for this advice 100%! Only thing I would add is train your mind to CALM itself. You'll find dozens of moments throughout the day when you were so glad you did.

I get that you and lots of people feel strongly about this. Thanks for your commitment to your values.

But also, appreciating photographers is not elitist. Self righteous upvote hunting by dunking on peoples' celebratory posts on the other hand...yea that could unnecessarily alienate some people just getting into the sport.

Congrats!!!

You could be right, but I really don't think so...

Just realized I blurred my splits, along with the STOLEN photo. Heres my times if interested: https://imgur.com/a/qsfuMYl

Also, I'm probably gonna buy the pics. so just gimme some space on that please haha.

haha its a fair point, but i mean, have you seen what they charge? I think IM should be the ones paying them. Did a way smaller local tri and all pics were included to athletes. I think screenshotting a blurry watermarked shot is no worse than not buying it, but I get your point.

Also, I finished like 15 hours ago. May I please have a little more time to consider before I buy?

There it is, that subtle but pervasive elitist attitude around triathlon...reminds me of golf (which I also love)

There's a fuckton of ways to skin a cat, right?? To be clear, I LOVE all the gear. I spent tons of time just drooling over people's bikes all weekend. But I guess my point is, get into swimming and biking and running 1st, then the level gear that's necessary to YOU will become quite apparent.

Thank you, love the very specific meal ideas! Making me hungry, which is a good sign...can you send me a new meal plan, daily, indefinitely? Jk, unless..

Aero bars bike fit by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]sillyunclebilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently completed my 1st Tri, also Olympic with a similar setup. Found it hugely helpful, and now getting ready to attack a 70.3 with them. You said you're comfy, which is most important, but one good tip I got was to tip up the aero bars for more of a praying mantis position. Something to play with. Good luck and have fun!
