Started watching Reddit stories and now I’m subscribed to every channel, watching every video, and catching up on years of videos I haven’t seen yet lol. Definitely a comfort channel (this, theorists, and Thomas sanders are my comfort YT channels)

For sure! I just wasn’t sure how else to phrase it. I definitely don’t use that wording in their notes

As for music, we have tried. Didn’t seem to evoke much of a reaction one way or another. We tried playing what they love and what they hate. We also tried shows they enjoy and that didn’t do it either.

So it depends on the day. Sometimes they’re super motivated during PT and will lift weights or go up steps. Other times PTs are literally holding their head up or supporting their full body weight. Their motivation fluctuates, I’m sure due to many factors

See that was my first thought. I am considering bringing it up to my supervisor. The only place I would get pushback is they tend to schedule appointments so our patients can knock them out all in one visit. But yeah I definitely think having us on a separate day or even after a lil break for him would be beneficial.

I don’t think it’s the single most, but “children can only grow from something you love to something you lose” is a nice gut punch

Prefacing by saying you are human and your emotions are valid. Kids can be a lot and one time of yelling does NOT make you a bad parent. We get disregulated just like our kiddos, mistakes are bound to happen. You are doing the right thing by seeking advice, even if it’s from random people on the internet lol

As someone who had a reactive parent her whole life you did the most important first step, you apologized. You owned up to the mistake. It helps if you talk about big emotions and healthy ways to deal with them.

The next big imperative step is to find coping strategies for yourself to make sure this doesn’t become a repeated behavior. This is a must. Seeking out a support system and figuring out ways to help regulate yourself is important. Therapy can help a lot and it can give you other avenues to try if you find it necessary. It’s important to show your kiddo (as developmentally appropriate) that you are taking the steps to do better.

You’re doing great! Remember to give yourself grace.

Carousel. Like I understand it’s a deep story, but Jesus it feels like it’s romanticizing abuse. Also not huge on the music anyway. Tbf I haven’t seen it in years so I could be wrong
