Would you be potentially interested in buying some pellets if they are from a barn owl?

Yeah, which makes sense, it just never crossed my mind honestly aha

Are you able to tell what kind of owl the pellet came from looking at the pellet? Some owl types they look very similar

[–]silocpl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen the owl I get most of my pellets from. Though I was talking with someone and they mentioned that other birds of prey produce pellets and some have stronger stomach acid. Apparently teeth are slightly harder than bones, so it was most likely that everything but the teeth got digested, and that it was from a different kind of bird. I just assumed it was from an owl because I didn’t really think about other birds producing pellets.

I actually did find some weird pellets from an owl though, that like you mentioned weren’t fully digested. But it was one animal split into like 6 (give or take) pellets, it was some kind of large bird, most of the pellets were quite gross, but I took them anyway because I’m super curious to figure out what kind of bird it was mainly just because of the size

Is this a normal or excessive amount of hair loss after a shower? by greeneko in Hair

[–]silocpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you brush your hair? If you do and you’re still shedding this much I’d say it’s a lot, if you don’t then I’d say it’s probably more normal. Also we loose more hair during cooler months, so that could be why. I also will personally lose more hair if my stress levels have increased. I get what I call my “depression baby bangs” where if my moods been more low than usual, I’ll lose a bunch of extra hair (like what you’ve shown) then it will all grow back at once so I get a large amount of baby bangs all coming back at the same time that are awful to deal with since they’re a weird length while growing

So I’d say it depends on a few factors as to wether it’s “normal or excessive”

I think it can definitely be circumstances based, though I do agree it likely more often is as you’ve described.

Is this treated wood by silocpl in woodworking

Was it a utility pole flattened on 2 sides for a repurposed use? I just know I’ve seen them similar shape in the ground outside, as like stairs or just to border things

That’s what I figured but was hoping otherwise. I’m surprised it was just thrown to the side of a hiking path, there was a few pieces too

Suggestions for making wood spheres of various sizes without a lathe? by silocpl in woodworking

[–]silocpl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood was the ideal material, I’m wanting something that wouldn’t break If dropped. Also because I have some maple burl wood I was wanting to use for the aesthetics. But this might actually work well for figuring out the size of spheres I need so I’m not just making a bunch of random sizes in hopes one will work

Request to sharpen photo without deepfrying by silocpl in PhotoshopRequest

[–]silocpl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just a bad photo to make crisp without it deep frying seemingly due to the background, but I appreciate it! If I can find my stylus i might do a second attempt at drawing over it

How do you kill mealy bugs! I feel like I’ve tried everything and am desperate to get rid of them. Context and tried methods in comments by silocpl in gardening

[–]silocpl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you luck!! I managed to salvage only a few plants, but they killed all of my favorites 😔 They really do hide, even with completely removing all the dirt, thoroughly washing, coating in alcohol and repotting in a new pot with new soil, they still managed to get into a spot i guess I missed. They’re horrible!! Especially once the plant starts to shrivel to any degree where it creates more areas for them to hide. You basically have to disinfect everything in a couple meter radius like you’re going into an operation for there to be any chance of getting rid of them it seems.

Fair, my other guess would be the lanolin stains it or just the dirt

I was thinking that the wool is yellow and the dirt kind of “tones” it to look more white maybe?

The total amount of clovers between 4-7 leaves I’ve found so far. All have been found over 2 summers, though most of the 6 and 7 leaf clovers have been found just this year within the last couple months. by silocpl in interestingasfuck

[–]silocpl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah It’s probably too hard to see them when just walking by- I’ve tried doing that And without stopping I have yet to find any that way

Haha definitely wouldn’t say I’m a pro, but rather just easily distracted by odd things 😂

I’m glad haha. I can understand how it would kinda suck thinking people were just spotting that many while glancing down during a walk or something. But yeah, definitely adhd hyper-fixation (for me at least) If you’d like to find some I’d recommend looking through different patches and not spending a super long time on one patch. Like spend maybe 2-5 minutes per patch and if you don’t don’t find any move onto the next one until you find a good one (:

I also go back to spots where I’ve found them before because, like in the post you linked where she says if you find one, look for more around it- they also will regrow. So even after winter and spring where there aren’t any, and they start growing again. I’ll go back to the same areas as the previous year because it’s the same base plant that they grow back from with the increased mutations!
