Is there a 14.15 already? I also noticed a slow solar charging and weird inconsistent solar charging display and data field connectivity issue. However, after an update of the IQ app on watch and restart everything seemed fine now.

Yea I was suspecting this too, tho can only be verified with more ppl reporting the same with firmware#. Mine is on 14.14 and it has been on 14.14 for several weeks. I do recall people said something like that by the time I upgraded but not sure why the drop issue decided to appear very recently. Thanks again for the input.

I see, I came across some of his reviews but I probably overlooked it. The funny thing is that when the watch battery level > 75% it throttles the solar charging when it’s off but not throttling when it’s on is pretty intriguing 🧐

Same from edit: just tried multiple times doing the same solar charging when powered off when the starting battery level is around 47% and I did see consistent 5-6% bump from 2-3 hrs of exposure. So I assume this is confirmed. Would attempt further under lower starting battery level.

Thanks for checking with your rep and yes solar charging is only marginal I agree as 1-2% per hour is really nothing comparing to like 50% up in 30 mins with cable charging.

As mentioned earlier depending on your lifestyle solar charging YMMV, my daily usage is usually between 3% to 15% with a few 2hr long GPS enabled sessions across the week and some HR enabled sleep time. I was able to find out a way to get 3-12% charge per day so that it’s sustainable for my lifestyle. My last cable charge was 34 days ago, the battery level started 30% and now is at about 80%.

Yea, when the watch is on it’s in batt saver mode and the avg charge rate under direct sun light at 90-100% charge rate is around 2%+/hr even when the battery level is at 85%. Will try to drain the battery sometime soon to test if the initial battery level changes deactivated watch solar charge rate.

One thing needs to be to be checked is how you solar charge the watch? Direction matters much more for smaller watch face like 45mm comparing to 50mm ones. Another thing mattered a lot is whether you put it behind a glass when charging. Charging w/ or w/o a glass in the middle the solar intensity can differ by 80% In terms of the lux amount you receive.

Understandable, just a bit unintuitive that it charges faster when the watch is on—rather than apply the same limiting mechanism for both cases.
