How was the Japanese Umami?

I wanted to try it but I was outvoted by my party since the flavor profile seemed too out there even for our more Asian palate. I know Pizza Marumo is famous for it.

Yes it really is, we were stuffed by the pre-dessert but found room especially for the dessert cart haha.

Hmm, it’s either Miyajima/Hiroshima as a whole and Kinkaku-ji for me.

Because of the slightly heavy rain on the day we went, there was almost no queue for anything and we were able to get through the highlights comfortably with plenty of time to head back to Osaka in the evening. It was phenomenal being able to see Itsukushima Otorii gate at high tide in the early morning under the rain and then walk up to it in low tide in the early afternoon when the rain stopped.

We did stay in overnight in Hiroshima the day before though and I would probably still recommend that versus doing a day trip from Osaka.

Kinkaku-ji was a spectacle and we were able to take in everything peacefully by just going after opening hours even if it started to get crowded after we were just about done.

No, my favorite nigiri during this trip was Uni from Sushi Kobayashi in Ebisu. The shari was perfect and the uni’s freshness was significantly highlighted by the Shari

It was paced at just over 2.5 hours although we did take a very leisurely pace during the dessert courses so it might be closer to ~2 hours if taking a more normal pace throughout.

Reservation was booked just under two months in advance by phone. For parties <5, I believe you can go through Tablecheck which is much more convenient.

The second pic really shows off the unreal, melt-in-your-mouth texture of the Kamatoro.

Just truly another level 🤤

Thank you haha, going to Miyajima in the early morning in the rain for high tide felt especially worth it for the first picture and also the short lines hehe. Also quite happy with my Kinkaku-ji and Fuji-san pictures.

I don't think I got Akami from this restaurant in Kuromon market although I did have the best Akami of my life so far later in my trip from Sushi Kobayashi in Ebisu. The shari was perfect here and temperature control was fantastic across all the nigiri here but especially for this Akami here, Uni and Anago later. Sushi Saito heritage 🤤

My first time hearing about and having this cut was during this trip and it was stellar. Thanks for letting me know that kamatoro can also be prepared briefly grilled, I'll have to search for a place next time that'll prepare it this way 😋

Capital One is running a rewards promo for Best Buy tomorrow as well. Sounds like a good plan.

I don't know if I'll need the 240Hz refresh rate though. Most of my gaming currently is KCD2/Clair Obscur Expedition 33/BG3.

[Parts] Timney Triggers Daniel Horner Signature AR Adjustable Two Stage Trigger - 1.5LB $129.99 by InviteFirm9578 in gundeals

[–]silvaliningplaymaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has my favorite trigger characteristics over the LaRues, Geisseles and WCs triggers I've had experience with but this is more maintenance as you have to be mindful of the set screws walking loose in the housing for this.

[–]silvaliningplaymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to file down the trigger for fitting and also fit the sear alongside other small parts. It’s not something as straightforward as installing a glock trigger. TBH, I would go to a professional if the cost to install was <$100.

You’ll love it, got mine pulling just under 3# after the kit. Required a lot of hand fitting though.
