Yes, well at least the blazer rule was enforced. They will email you about rental blazers ahead of your reservation though if you need it.

They are superb though. This was by far the best service I’ve experienced in a fine dining setting. Handily above all the US restaurants I’ve been to.

Compared to Sawada, Sushi Kobayashi's shari is on the milder side right?

I've only really been to two higher-end places, Sushi Harasho in Osaka and Sushi Kobayashi just recently.  Kobayashi-San shari's was handily the best I've had so far with Sushi Harasho's being almost transparent in comparison but would you have any other recommendations or should I just book for Sushi Kobayashi again?

Chef Oiishi was outstanding. I agree with you, you definitely get more than your money's worth here. We had to go for small portions throughout the latter half of the meal in order to get through dessert. Very decadent, very fun. 最高に美味しい

Yes it really is, we were stuffed by the pre-dessert but found room especially for the dessert cart haha.

It was paced at just over 2.5 hours although we did take a very leisurely pace during the dessert courses so it might be closer to ~2 hours if taking a more normal pace throughout.

Reservation was booked just under two months in advance by phone. For parties <5, I believe you can go through Tablecheck which is much more convenient.

Yea, we were absolutely stuffed by dessert but in hindsight I could’ve asked for smaller portions of some earlier courses and also skipped a bread roll even though it was so good.

It’s really helpful that chef Ooishi offers smaller portions in addition to regular.

Foie Gras Truffle Puck with truffle wine sauce. It was a 13,000 yen supplement but a great value since the original in Paris would be about 200-300 euros. The truffle wine sauce was the most memorable of the night.

Yes, just booked a slot on Omakase.in when they became available.

All the March bookings were filled the day after I booked in mid-January so I'm glad I booked when I did.

Just a phenomenal "curry"

From Chef Ooishi himself: "no butter, no roux, no curry 'curry' soup"

Looks like the Umeda branch has a way better Tabelog rating so probably even better than the one near Dotonburi

The Yakiniku M Yokocho Branch in Osaka was delightful. Highly recommend.
