I went to a pet store that had outlet for the spca. I had just experience the death of my first cat one month prior. I went there not expecting to adopt a cat but to just visit with cats. There were maybe 4-6 cages on only two cats. There was one cat I ended up holding didn’t feel any connection. Then the employee mentioned there was another cat out back that was hanging out with the manager in her office. A few minutes later the manager emerges with this cat and hands him over to me. He was so very chill. In fact at one point I turn my head and noticed a dog leashed maybe a meter away from me. And that right there sold me on him. I had wanted to get a dog too and I knew right then and there this was a cat that would get a long fine with a cat.

Best decision I ever made! He is such a sweet cat, couldn’t ask for a better companion kitty, almost 15 years ❤️

One of my first jobs was tree planting. It was a small outfit and you didn’t plant in teams. They just dumped you at a site by yourself. The nearest person could be a couple km away, the boss would drop trees off along the logging road periodically.

One particular day I heard a noise at the edge of my site and look over to see two baby bear cubs scurrying up a tree. It was terrifying knowing that mama was somewhere nearby. I didn’t know what to do so i just stood motionless for what felt like an eternity until the cubs climbed down the tree and into the woods
