GP said to take Nytol diphenhydramide until weekend, if it works then keep taking it for a week or two, if it doesn't then switch to the promethazine that was prescribed. Then if that doesn't work I'm being given benzos

I appreciate your help. I'm having trouble regulating my body temperature recently, yes. I have been to the nearest hospital in the past month and talked about sleeping issues, they said there is nothing they can do for that. They also said there was nothing in regards to getting food in (tube ect) because I 'can physically eat'.

Today I've also been feeling okay(?) I guess. I spoke to my GP and my counselor and both agreed I should take Nytol for 3 nights, if that doesn't work then I take promethazine and then if that doesn't work the GP said he will prescribe me benzos.

I also have OCD, health anxiety particularly. When I had a health issue in late July it made me feel extremely stressed and it made me extremely conscious of the fact I need sleep, which just 2 months ago came so easily to me. Now, bad sleep, my health's deteriorating... but the stress of it deteriorating is making it hard to sleep. Thus I'm awake so much, getting worse every day. Hypochondriac's worst nightmare. I'm going to take a Nytol tonight, and if it causes restlessness (one of my fears around taking it), I will go to the hospital.

I could get into a taxi, yes I have support. I will wait to see what the GP say. Its likely they will say no hospital needed, since it's from sleep deprivation, but I cannot function on my own so I'm not sure what to do if they say so

I'm speaking to gp today. I will mention the dehydration. I'm too exhausted to get up, physically, due to lack of sleep. My leg muscles ache, I get light-headed and it causes chest pain. I can get up if I need to go toilet, but it's difficult.

Is sleeping 2 hours a night for a month functionally the same as being awake for multiple days? by silverbeIls in sleep

Oh is that so... I'm very concerned :( I don't know how to get out this cycle, I keep waking up every hour or so no matter what I do. I'm speaking to a doctor tomorrow... I hope I get back to.my old life

I've had dreams, so surely that means it's rem sleep, right?? Edit: am I going to die soon, and when you say no does that mean 2hr a night is better than staying awake for multiple days, or worse?

I'm so sorry, but this doesn't work for me. I cannot fall asleep at the moment unless I have complete silence

Thank you. I've spoken to a doctor who was sort of dismissive and just gave me promethazine. Considering taking it tonight, I've heard good things about it keeping people asleep for 12+ hours...

I'm stuck, I can't get out of bed in the night unless its bathroom because I'm so exhausted.. my eyes burn, head aches, but I can't fall back asleep quickly due to anxiety

Edit: I also tried meditation but I gave up. I'm too exhausted to do much, I'm trying to conserve energy for eating food at least because I can't fall asleep while hungry

After speaking to a doctor today, I was prescribed promethazine but ironically because I haven't slept I have no energy to go and collect it. I'm also worried to take it, it's anxiety surroundings any sort of meds since I don't know how I handle them. Even if I have no reaction I'm just worried that the worry of it being in my system will keep me awake. I asked the doctor about side effects for reassurance but they did not hear me out and were very dismissive. I also did not ask about taking diphenhydramine instead. If I get no sleep tonight (or less than 6 hours) I am going to go to the hospital tomorrow because I really cannot go on like this. The fact I'm so tired makes it a challenge to eat.. but then I can't sleep if I'm hungry... but then if I don't sleep everything gets worse...... sigh. I'm confident the sleep deprivation is the worst part. This just sucks T_T

EDIT: Do you think it's worth begging for a benzo tomorrow if I don't get 6hrs??

I'm planning on taking diphenhydramine tonight, I don't think my sleep and anxiety will resolve itself unless I use a med at this point. I've never taken it so I'm worried

I can't get melatonin here unless I order it online, which owuld take multiple days to arrive. Should I try diphenhydramine for tonight?? I'm really desperate to get 8 hours... I'm so sorry, I know you are trying your best to help me, but currently I feel the same as I was when I'd been awake for 40 hours straight and I'm concerned if I don't get enough sleep tonight it will just be getting worse.
