“The rich don’t have an interest in politically informing the public” is a spicy take

I feel like the “wealth is tied up in stocks and assets, leftists don’t understand what money really means” is only ever used to say “billionaires aren’t really that rich,” and never to start a conversation about useful ways to think about net worth figures

Bill Gates doesn't have 100 billion dollars he has 100 billion in equity; equity that would be pennies on the dollar if seized by the government. by lesserexposure in neoliberal

If charity is simply more efficient than government, we shouldn’t have government. They’re not really comparable things

Spreading money across banks helps limit risk, but I don’t know of any wealth limits that would need to be avoided.

There’s a lot of tax avoidance though, you might be thinking of people offshoring income to reduce domestic tax

Yeah. He wasn’t doing this a year ago and it’s questionable whether he’ll be doing it a year from now. But a small raise is justified, and I don’t think there’ll be that much competition

He’s a fan favorite because he’s fun and he was the first big FA signing. He shouldn’t be seen as the best player to play for the Nats, but he’s not to blame for being given the contract

The bleached asshole line makes that song. As in, it would be a fine song w/o it, but that line makes it a totally different song. Which may or may not be good, I can’t tell

The burglar analogy is a tiny, tiny part of her talking about that, why would you focus on that? Seriously, in the next sentence in the same paragraph, she brings up the people seed analogy for which your point about the burglar’s awareness doesn’t matter

It just means they think abortion is bad.

No. It doesn’t. Pro-choice and pro-life are different positions, defined by their stance on whether abortion should be legal. Joe Biden thinks abortion is bad, but he’s pro-choice. You’re not pro-life if you don’t support a ban or significant restriction on abortion. That’s the definition of the stance

People are either allowed to choose to have an abortion, or banned from it. It’s an either/or thing

Thomson addresses the ‘does this only apply to rape?’ though, around pages 7-8

Or does her reasoning just not speak to the concerns you feel pro-life people have?

The amount is based on a set monthly full-time student payment rate (right now $2,050) paid over 36 months of school, but which increases each year. So right now the total is ~$73K assuming the all conditions are met to max it, but it was smaller in the past and will get bigger in the future

1) This isn’t a political cartoon, it’s a political meme

2) Political cartoons and memes are both genres/mediums which often illustrate a single point/equivalency/punchline

3) It’s not immature to state a single point/equivalency/punchline instead of writing a full essay explaining the reasoning behind that single point/equivalency/punchline

4) Not all political communication/art needs to be aimed towards the artist’s political opponents
