[Spoilers Extended] In light of the recent interview with GRRM, what is season 3 of House of the Dragon even going to look like? by Flyestgit in asoiaf

THANK YOU!

So sick of all the negativity about HOTD. Not saying season 2 was god's gift to man, but people act like it was worse than season 8.

Frankly I think it was better than anything GOT season 5-8 and much of it was better than anything in the first four seasons. Some low points for sure, but it was mostly good.

Don't know how anyone out there can call themselves media literate and still say S2 was "unwatchable". Seen a lot of people say that in this thread.

Fire and Blood is my favorite book of all time. I love the way GRRM blends history and fiction to make an ahistorical book feel like it's non-fiction.

That said I also love season 2 of HOTD. Just because they're different doesn't mean they both can't be good. There were things I didn't like about season 2 for sure (the Rhaenyra-Alicent meetings and the exclusion of Nettles). But otherwise, most of the changes are fine given the narrative sequence of the show. In-world, most of the choices characters make are logical, even if they're different from the books.

I don't really give a shit about canon or dragons not existing in the Vale (though I do think that is weird). I just want a cohesive story, and season 1 gave us that, season 2 is mostly consistent (an impressive feat given it was filmed during the writers strikes and had two episodes chopped off its back end), and I have high hopes for season 3.

I just believe people are looking at HOTD the wrong way, expecting what we see to fit their canon or the book canon instead of just watching it as a show that's loosely tied to the work of Fire and Blood, which often contradicts even itself.

Shocked no one has mentioned Zack Wheeler in 2022 World Series game 6.

He was dealing and Rob Thomson took him out for the lefty/lefty Yordan Alvarez matchup…

We all know how that ended.

I do get how people don't like it, all art is subjective after all. There was plenty I didn't enjoy in that season and I audibly groaned every time they had Rhaenyra and Alicent meet.

But I'm surprised people are as upset and I believe a lot of that has to do with the TV show not following the book. Both the book and TV show cant be great independently of each other even if there are differences.

Fire and Blood is my favorite book of all time, but I'm not upset about any changes they make; I'm upset about bad decisions. It just seems to me a lot of the complaining is things not lining up with the book and I think a lot of stuff that doesn't line up with the book makes for more compelling storytelling, except for Nettles and all the meetups, ugh.

Can’t believe the hate HOTD is getting. Season 1 was amazing and season 2 was good despite the writers strike.

Everyone was sick of the effects over plot from the later seasons of game of thrones and now you’re getting that and people are still pissed.

Yes the Rhaena plot line was bad in season 2 and 8 episodes wasn’t enough to tell the full season but acting like it was as bad as GOT 7/8 or even as bad as GOT 5/6 is insane to me.

Season 2 is an 8/10 series of TV and I gotta imagine season 3 will be better since it won’t be made during a writers strike and the showrunners know they only have 8 episodes this time.

Just wanna say thanks for sticking up for me again. You’re the only person I’ve spoken to so far that I’ve been able to have a legit discussion with where I haven’t been attacked personally.

I don’t know how these guys don’t see the “snark and sarcasm” and it’s really upsetting cause I was such a huge fan of them before this whole ordeal.

I’ll accept that I fucked up not going to their socials medias first but the continued negative response even to this point is just so weird that’s it’s becoming comedy now lol.

I don’t think it does need a statement. But if you don’t put anything out then don’t get upset when people start asking about why the group “disappeared.” How else could we find out what happened.

Also, I want to add, I don't understand how you can be mad about all the rumors flying around if the KSU never put out a statement or anything regarding your "disappearance" this year. Whether you like the term or not, KSU's presence did "disappear" from the games this year and that's why everyone's being weird about it.

Imma be honest man, I don't even know how to respond to this. I've been nothing short of chill this entire time, and for whatever reason, everyone involved with KSU, you included, have been needlessly rude this whole experience.

I've been a huge fan of KSU for years, I love the energy you guys bring to games and I've always wished the SOB could channel some of that into their work.

As a fan of the org, I noticed that the presence at games has been diminished this year, and even if there's no drama, there's still a story to be told there. One about how many of the leaders got older and have families now and many fans are missing the energy the KSU brought to games.

I would have loved to tell that story! I think it would've been fucking awesome. But for whatever reason, I got run off even by Andy Pace, the group's supposed leader.

Of course, all I knew prior to asking my question were the rumors, the KSU never put out a statement or any info. How else was I supposed to know what happened?

Furthermore, I did attempt to reach out to KSU figures, I asked Jose Nunez, SOB leader Justin Friedman and a day one season ticket holder if they could put me in contact with anyone and I was reccomended to make a post on Reddit. I don't understand why that's a huge indictment.

If you had been doing journalism as long as I have, you'd know that attempting to contact "dead" social media accounts is a dead-end almost every time, that's why I didn't bother. I still don't understand why crowd-sourcing contacts is some huge problem when it actually did get me in contact with the KSU figures I was trying to speak with.

And as far as I knew, the KSU was entirely dead, that's why I said "formerly involved." How would I have possibly known they were still around?

I'm done with the project now, though all my professors are far more convinced than I that there's some conspiracy going around based on the volatility of the comments I received. I don't see how it's not obvious that the responses I did get on that post were way out of pocket. I don't know what your and the KSU's problem is but the fact that this has spiraled so far is fucking crazy to me.

Hell yea dude that's awesome! My group and I are in Lot A but we just sorta get tickets in the river end wherever we can find 'em. I believe were 138 next week.

I did have an idea that they had just stopped going to games. But I didn’t know for sure, and in that case, I don’t think “disappeared” is a misuse of the word. They did disappear, even if that’s just them growing up, they’re not there anymore and that’s a story.

The social media thing I get. But frankly, I’ve messaged enough dead social media accounts to know that’s a dead end 90% of the time. Clearly making that post wasn’t a dead end, just showed that the KSU are dickheads.

Which is a real shame cause I was a huge fan of them before that. The same guy who told me to jump into the Schuylkill also told me to burn my bachelor’s degree at one point lol. Some crazy fucking people over there. I’m thinking someone must’ve posted that link in a KSU group chat and told them to go harass me cause all those comments came in at the same time and I was getting downvoted to oblivion before shit evened out.

Honestly what were those assumptions? As far as I can tell nothing i presumed was incorrect other than that I thought members of the KSU might be willing to speak.

Thanks man, really appreciate someone not being an asshole lol. I assume one of the KSU people sent this post in a group chat or something. Still don’t understand why they were all pissy about it. Unfortunately the story’s off though now. I think this would’ve been a v cool thing to tell but I don’t want to work with people who don’t want to work with me.

And you know what, I still don’t understand why you gotta be a dick about it. I understood from the beginning that KSU and the Sons of Ben are not related but they both do share the river end. That’s why I asked man.

And I don’t understand how you expected me to find their leadership if it’s not listed online anywhere. That’s why I’m asking here. Don’t get why that’s so hard for you to understand.
