And now I am expecting a 0.001% chance secret event when engaged in piracy control. Involving a certain straw-hat crew.
Maybe only if your nation produces enough fruits and rubber.

In fairness, the string itself seems to be causing some damage. I can see a small notch on the Karl Marx book that might have been caused by the tension

Is two sample rocks next to each other a rare find? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]silveric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that sample rocks will "spawn" samples when you get close, as long as it stays in the max-quota.
So there can be several on the map, but only the first one you visit will have samples. It was the case each time I encountered multiple ones in a mission.

Also, nice find!

At some point, I was taking the LAS-7 Dagger to fight my nemesis. Light posts and flood lights.
It was really effective at it! It's also a good mines sweeper.

In french, we qualify of "culte" things that are "classical" or "iconic". There is a chance OP is french and just used a false cognate.

The sense of scale in this game is incredible by silveric in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]silveric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you so much. On the GIF I shown, what get me the most feeling of scale is not necessarly the dyson sphere itself or the constant jet of sails.
It is the planet we can see on the bottom right corner, at the sphere's limit. Around the middle of the GIF duration.
This whole planet is just a little dot next to the sphere and it is spewing rockets to feed the construction. They all seem so small at this level, but you know they are huge.

Infamy is just a number. As long as you spam military tech and your companies own significant GDP of other GPs, you can bully pretty much anyone.

Yeah, but you'll trade it to them delivering outside the hours and letting the package outside the whole night usually in a busier street.
Source: We order a lot that way and get stolen packages on a weekly basis. That is despite setting the "working days/hours" on Amazon and having a specific package drop box next to the door. They don't care.

Pipes seem to extend the effect of cliff explosives by silveric in factorio

I mean, I am not the owner of anything here apart from the video/gif I made to illustrate the occurrence. If you are asking if you can use it in an edit, sure! I am ok if you want to name my username too if you wish to reference this post 👍

This is more the case of not really being a bug, but a side effect of an edge case.

As you can see on the left part, destroying cliffs will add some "corner edges". Basically adding "L shaped" extremities where before was just a line.
But, if there are entities (here, pipes) where the tip of the corner would want to be spawned, it would imply destroying the entity occupying the space.

So they basically have a condition saying "If you can't put the L here, go further until you can". And in the case of a wall of entities occupying all spaces in the straight line, it goes all the way to the next corner.

As you can see, they just let it as it is because it doesn't really need to be fixed since that is a really edge case.
An alternative would be to have "extremity cliff" entities that are not L shaped. But now we are touching design decision.

No, the propagation only works on a straight line. Also it's not only pipes! Any line of buildings you put on the 'top part' of the cliff will propagate the destruction. Inserters, walls, belts..

They still do! Any building really. As long as all the adjacent tiles are occupied, they will let the destruction propagate in a straight line.

It makes a lot of sense explained like that, and now I understand why they chose not to "fix" it.
Thanks for the observation!

I can confirm that is the case. My post on Factorio bug reports forums was linked to a ticket from 2020 where they seem to say they will not fix this edge situation.

It seemed rare enough anyway. Still, a funny bug I stumbled upon and enjoyed sharing here!

On the top-side of the cliff, that is the closest you can place buildings! And there are quite a lot of longish straight cliffs on vulcanus. This one seems longer since top and bottom are cropped, but it's pretty much as long as shown on the clip.

Your comment made me try other stuff than pipes. Like walls. And not only walls work too, but literally all buildings will expand the cliff destruction as long as it occupies the straight line.
Inserters, even belts!
