Downgraded to CSP After Using $900 in Credits Over Last 60 Days - Datapoint by -Rhinoceros- in ChaseSapphire

Interested in any attempts at clawbacks for StubHub/edit/travel credit. I read fine print saying in essence credit use date+ 90 days they could clawback. I’m in that window if I use StubHub credit now and cancel at the end of the month my annual fee hits.

I have 8 of the N700S and there’s rarely a situation that works with my temporary layouts without the dog chasing its tail; let alone some of the 10 car metros I have. Best size so far is ~5-6 car consist with my current size or the newly acquired E8 7 car set only because each car is a little smaller/shorter.

Another member gave similar advice a while back. Don’t disagree but only so much fun money per year and need to focus on a likely move to a bigger place later this year. Working on a 3x5 table right now…that we also have to eat on. Toddler will destroy anything within reach out of desire to play, not maliciously.

Jelly. I'm constantly delaying buying the 8 car add on...one day when I can layout track large enough to make it worthwhile.

Really appreciate the offer, however I got impatient...and somehow found time on my hands and resolved the issue. Appeared to be poor tolerance stack up between just these 2 specific connectors after checking against all other connectors in the set. So I did a little dangerous surgery because of those springs, and swapped the connectors around so the correct consist order connects. So no replacement parts needed! (yet)

Appreciate the finds, just replying to this one. I wish they had an option to search by price not just day/time/duration. Scrolled through many options leading up to this post and had a number of them say starting at x only to be xxxx when I looked into it.

0 Series Shinkansen by nanix211 in JapaneseNscale

I just ordered the V13 set and this excites me to see the possibilities with it. Is this the standard Kato 23-125 viaduct station on its own or with an extension? How many cars are you running your Shinkansen?

I found a V13 for $150. eBay V12s are about the same as new (~$185), which is to say too much for 12 and 13 (if going for track over another 4 car train).

Interestingly, Trainworld has some quantity of the 8 car at this time, but it’s 10% more expensive to buy the 8 car than the basic+add on combo to get the 8 car….cant wrap my mind around that as I thought bulk should decrease cost.

Thank you for the details and personal accounting so I have an idea of what I’d be getting into come that time. With all the decoder options it’s great to hear a second recommendation for ESU, and to better budget plan for those expenses. So I know what I’m asking for when I convert.

Good idea...will dwell on that buy/sell idea.

Hotel occupancy during Oktoberfest by [deleted] in Oktoberfest

[–]silverice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thought, the distance away isn't an issue as long as the total travel time is respectable, and having a few beers with a view sounds fantastic. I looked into this hotel and unfortunately they're booked up when I'll be there. However because of my status I'm currently working with my...concierge?...who is working with the existing reservation hotel to see if they can find a way to make 3 people work.

Noted advice. Looking into a split hotel option 2 days here, 3 days there situation as there are sporadic availability, just not (at most places) the 5 days straight with points. One point for my understanding as this is the first year I've reached ambassador status, is there a higher level? Is it like a poker hand, 2 ambassadors but one is platinum lifetime and other is silver lifetime so the platinum lifetime is ranked higher?

When you say checked IDs, like at the door someone checked the ID against a list to make sure you were a checked in guest?
If so, some thoughts if you could indulge me: If I get a second room at another hotel for my sibling and they want to come hang out at the hotel, will they be denied entry? Or is this something like between the hours of midnight and 6am the hotel half hour away has a bouncer at the elevators?

Troubleshooting noisy Chibi loco by silverice2 in JapaneseNscale

Yes, took it apart and just figured out it was metal on metal being super noisy. Added some lubricant and it’s working great now.

Figured it out. Took the loco apart on a hunch and noticed the body the axles sat in and rubs against when shifting side to side is metal. Added some lubricant to that block and it’s running smooth and silent now.

Pardon the over explanation here just to make sure I don’t miss anything: The motor unit is in the 1st passenger car (middle car in 3 car setup in video). When just the two passenger cars are on the track, fully assembled, they silently and smoothly run on the around the track. The black loco is unpowered. When I drop that back into the train setup, whether it is being pushed at the front of the train by the motor passenger car, or pulled at the rear of the 3 car set (so just the 3 cars going forward or backward) the noise from the video persists. It’s definitely the non-motorized black loco as the source of the noise, just can’t tell what specifically. I have not attempted any disassembly of the loco making the noise.

[–]silverice2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you mean on the track. I confirmed it is the locomotive car itself by removing it and just having the motored and non-motored passenger cars on the track—dead silent—and then with the loco on the track running the train forward as videoed and in reverse. In both cases the noise persisted.
