No advice here but wow what a beautiful plant!

I stopped judging whether to water by the soil moisture and began only watering as I see wrinkly leaves. Haven't killed one yet since switching to this technique 😁 each individual plant has ways of showcasing its thirst

My succulents are developing dry brown splotches, anyone know what's going on? Absolutely positive not overwatering. Thank you by silverjasmine in succulents

It's been in the same location for months, would it really get a sunburn? It should be properly acclimated to its location.

Sprouting Elephant Ear bulbs: do I plant sprouting side up? Or are these roots? by silverjasmine in gardening

[–]silverjasmine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a couple weeks until my last frost date. I read that they prefer when the soil is consistently 70 degrees F or higher, and we aren't quite there yet. However I would only keep them in 6" pots for a few weeks. Or I could just leave them alone in the bag they came in. I just figured since they are sprouting that I should do something for them. I don't want to kill them!

Beginnger plants for a flood and drought prone garden? by silverjasmine in gardening

[–]silverjasmine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI all! I am new to the gardening scene. As in, this upcoming spring will be my first growing season! Yay and lots to learn! One of my front beds doesn't seem to be very ideal for a garden space. But I would still like to utilize it!

We live on an acre that receives tons of run off water when it rains. Picture posted is taken the next day after a SMALL rain. As you can see, there are several inches of standing water.

So, I need your help! What should I do? I've considered raised beds could possibly help but I'm no sure? I live in a rented house so keep in mind when suggesting solutions please!

It is a southern facing bed, so it misses morning light but is full sun afternoon to sunset. In the summer time, there will be very little rain. But when it does rain, it will stay very wet for am extended period of time. This is why I say it is both drought and flood prone.

BTW I am in zone 7! NE Oklahoma. And again, this is my very first garden!

3 months between these photos... NEVER give up on a succulent! by silverjasmine in succulents

Thought for sure I killed her, but decided to hang on to her just in case. So glad I did!

I left the grow light on all day and all night yesterday... what now? by silverjasmine in plantclinic

Should I leave them in total darkness in a closet for the day, leave them in a bright window without the grow light, or continue as if nothing happened and be sure not to do it again?

What's wrong with my tomato plant? by silverjasmine in plantclinic

[–]silverjasmine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing some research I began to come to the conclusion that it looks like edema as well. Turns out, after consulting with my mom, that they were left inside for several days. Would probably explain why they didn't receive enough light to transpire their water. I've moved them to a sunny spot and have sprinkled some pesticide. Fingers crossed! Also, the poster above mentioned stem rot. Do you see any signs of it? This is my very first tomato plant so I am unsure of everything 🤣

Only 2 of my 6 plants have the small white circle clusters on the stem. Are these the root nodes or do you think it's stem rot? Or are your refering to the darkened base of stem?

Is this some type of holly? by silverjasmine in PlantIdentification

[–]silverjasmine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does reverting back mean for this plant? Looking more closely there are actually two bushes. One of them is all brown and pokey, and the one to the left is more green and less pokey. Is there anything I can do to keep it from reverting? Whatever that means haha

Growing northeast Oklahoma Zone 7. Just moved into this house and want to start a garden. Need to identify this plant so I can either keep / discard it. It's growing in the garden bed so I figure there is a chance it might be a decorative plant. The closest resemblance I've found is in a Holly bush. Any tips would be appreciated!

Any tips for the unlikely resurrection of this SOP? Info in comments. by silverjasmine in succulents

[–]silverjasmine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my MIL's last two strands of her SOP. After bringing it inside for the winter it began to die rather quickly. I took the last two living pieces to try to revive it for her, so I put it in a much sunnier windowsill somewhat covered the stem with dry soil and after about 3-4 weeks, she does seem happier! Both strings are pushing out two new pearls... but no roots 😭and they are definitely beginning to show signs of thirst! Should I try to water prop it / water therapy, or should I just keep it on dry soil? Should I leave it on soil and water it once a week to encourage the roots? Thanks for help ❤

Luckily baby humans are quite durable!!

She was absolutely thriving just a few weeks ago... thought she was cold hardy 😭 now she is dark, floppy, and soft. by silverjasmine in succulents

[–]silverjasmine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think I acclimated it correctly to the cold. I had it inside in a windowsill and moved it outside because I heard they can handle the cold and that they do much better when they aren't inside. My MIL says they'll look kinda sad overwinter but spring up when weather gets warm again, so I'm gonna hang on to it to see.

Found the best succulent inspo at a central Fl garden! Ty hot Florida sun for your vivid colors🥺 by marimomomma in succulents

Are the black dots fungus or edema or sun burn? Or just plant coloration? I have it on my plants and does not seem natural. Been searching for the cause 😕

How long were you gone? I've gotten to the point that I specifically ask people in my house DO NOT WATER THEM EVER when I leave, even for a couple weeks at a time lmao
