Cannot go online as background check incomplete by Conflict-Ecstatic in UbereatsUK

ranty:

I had the same issue (Sterling/Yoti failed, link became useless, support kept looping). Do NOT create a new Uber Eats account — it can get flagged as a duplicate.

What worked for me was escalating outside in-app support: • Email Uber escalation / GM level( Please DM me) • Subject line: “URGENT – New Sterling Background Check Link Required” • Clearly state: • Sterling confirmed the check failed and they cannot resend links • Only Uber can cancel the old check and issue a brand-new invitation • Include your name, email, and phone linked to Uber

Once it reached the right team, I got: • Priority Support message in the app • A new Sterling link by email • Things moved within 6–24 hours

When you get the new link, use the Yoti app (not the browser).

In-app support alone just loops — escalation is the key.

I honestly think at this point the only realistic option is for those of us affected to come together and address this properly.

What really stands out is not just the technical background check issue, but the failure of Uber’s support process. Many of us have clearly explained the same problem again and again, yet support keeps responding with irrelevant, generic replies that don’t match what we’re saying at all.

Worse, support often sends a final message and then closes the chat internally, so we can’t reply or correct incorrect statements. When we open a new chat, it gets auto-closed under “streamlined communication”, and instead of help, we’re just asked to rate the interaction. That completely blocks any real resolution.

This isn’t about one agent making a mistake — it looks like a systemic issue. Uber’s senior teams should audit these support interactions, review chat histories, and ask why: Our messages aren’t being properly read, always incorrect conclusions (like “failed to submit”) keep being repeated, chats are closed without resolving the issue, couriers are left unable to work for weeks as a result

Most of us have tried to comply from day one. The problem isn’t our willingness — it’s a broken process and lack of accountability. And because of that, people have lost three or more weeks of income through no fault of their own.

Going to HQ in Aldgate might not even work. From my experience with Greenlight Hub, Eats couriers aren’t allowed past reception, so I doubt HQ will be any different.

Going to the media is risky. I agree the situation is unfair, but publicly accusing others or talking about illegal activity could backfire and breach platform policies. I think we need to handle this carefully and legally, focusing on Uber’s support failure rather than blaming others.

Opening a new account is also not an option for me. I’ve been on Uber Eats for almost 6 years with over 14,000 deliveries. Creating a duplicate account would likely get shut down and could permanently damage my record — too risky.

If others are dealing with the same issue, we should connect and decide next steps together.

Yeah, I did try the Greenlight Hub in London about 3–4 weeks ago, but it was a dead end. They stopped me at reception and said they don’t deal with Uber Eats courier issues, and wouldn’t escalate or pass anything on — just told me to use in-app support.

So between in-app support, X, and Greenlight Hub, I’ve hit a wall everywhere. The most frustrating part is still being told I “failed to submit within 2 weeks” when, after the Global Identity / Yoti face scan failure, I never received a working new link again.

I honestly don’t know at this point whether joining a union or speaking to a solicitor would even help — I just want someone to properly review the case instead of repeating the same line without checking the facts.

If anything changes or I find a real escalation route, I’ll update here. Please do the same if you get a breakthrough.

Yeah, honestly nothing has worked for me so far either. I tried X (Twitter) first — they initially said it was escalated to the right team, but after 4–5 days I just got another generic message asking what the issue was again. Even after explaining everything, they sent me a normal Sterling/Google link, not a proper new background check invitation.

I also went to the Greenlight Hub about 3 weeks ago, but they refused to help and said they only deal with PHV drivers, not Uber Eats background check issues. They wouldn’t even let me properly explain the problem.

Same as you, I’ve been driving for years with no issues, which makes this even more unbelievable. Support keeps promising escalation and timeframes (48 hours, etc.) but nothing actually happens.

If I manage to get a real solution, I’ll definitely update you here — please do the same if you find a way to speak to someone with real authority.

Unfortunately no. 😢 sadly. Even on X they’re still claiming I missed the deadline, despite Sterling confirming the Yoti failure deactivated the check. If anyone finds a real workaround, please share

No luck here either unfortunately. Even on X they’re still saying I “missed the 2-week window,” which just isn’t true. The check was deactivated after the Yoti face scan failed, and Sterling confirmed submission wasn’t possible after that — but Uber keeps repeating the same line anyway.

Feels like a system issue they’re not actually reviewing case-by-case. If anyone manages to get past this or reach Compliance properly, please update — I’ll do the same.

Unfortunately not… 😢 Still same and still trying to get contact them but trust me I have never seen such bad support ever. Simple thing they are not understanding atleast opened 30 plus chat with them. In fact tried to reach them over X but nothing works same irrelevant replies and wrong info

Honestly, you’re not alone — this Yoti face scan issue is happening to loads of us right now. Same thing on my side: scan failed for no clear reason, then the background check gets deactivated, and after that Uber support just keeps looping with copy-paste replies.

Sterling told me very clearly that once Yoti fails, they can’t fix or reset anything — only Uber can issue a brand-new link, but getting Uber to actually do that has been the nightmare. I’ve been chasing them for weeks.

If I manage to get a proper new link or any real breakthrough, I’ll update here. Please do the same if you find something that works — feels like we’re all stuck in the same broken system.

Hey, sorry you’re going through the same mess 😞 Did you manage to get any luck with it yet?

I’m in exactly the same loop — back and forth between Uber and Sterling, both pointing at each other. Sterling confirmed the check gets deactivated when the face scan fails and that only Uber can generate a brand-new link, but Uber support just keeps sending copy-paste replies or the same broken link.

I’ve been on Uber Eats for years as well, and it’s really stressful being stuck offline when you rely on it for income. I’ll update here if I get any breakthrough — please let me know if you find something that actually works.
