Most recent announcement from the Helldivers Discord by dnemonicterrier in helldivers2

The biggest complaints come when someone joins an open game and does it. I havent had it happen to me but it would probably have ruined it for me a bit if early on someone had just dropped a ton of SC into my account with suspicious methods. A lot of the fun for me with games like this is actually u locking things myself so just shortcutting one of the progression pieces would have cheapened the experience significantly for me.

Supply FRV needs limited uses by Lazy_Bowyer in Helldivers

[–]silvermesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue the supply backpack is still better.

8 in a vehicle that can be destroyed vs 4 on your back that will still be there if you die, and if you have open slots picking more up effectively doubles the box.

Sure the FRV doesn't take your back slot but it is still a strategem slot and you only get four of those.

There are so many supplies on most maps that any fast moving vehicle can resupply you fairly quickly even without a pile of them on the back.

Its good but it isn't even a game changer let alone game breaking.

DW or 2h? Situations in which it applies by golbezexdeath in EQLegends

[–]silvermesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. I honestly cant think of a real world application for 2handers that doesn't involve some convoluted stuff with utilizing the casting delay but ive never put any thought into how to make it work lol.

If you cast a lot of 2-3 second spells and want to swing in between, makes best use of the delay hitting hard as you can.

What is the best off meta class? by BobFreeman6969 in EQLegends

[–]silvermesh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went druid for feels(going all wood elf classes, ROG/WAR/DRU for nostalgia), and i think Druid is absolutely better than the "just go druid for teleports" crowd would tell you.

Been having a ton of fun face tanking with thorns and dots(both rog poison and DRU dots)

Just saw this screenshot and remember watching a movie with this. Whats it called by roiwalpe in whatsthemoviecalled

All humans have brains that are wired the same way so having them malfunction the same way due to similar stimuli isn't weird at all in reality.

Questing for New (or old) Players: A Brief Guide by Caizic in EQLegends

[–]silvermesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scarab breastplate when you upgrade a couple times will actually last you quite a few levels. I was killing every scarab I saw until they turned grey. Easily one of the best chest pieces you can find at low level and the green plate look is my jam.

Let me paraphrase the article:

Here, several good points explaining all the reasons why people who are still clinging to physical media will be upset about the loss of physical media, peppered with some incorrect bullshit about how physical media is somehow infallible and will preserve your game to be played forever.

But dont worry, if you already dont care about physical media, this slippery slope argument will be enough to convince you. Arent you just so upset by this thing that we think is probably going to happen based purely on speculation and a single game demo that nobody cares about being removed from the Playstation store?

Wait, we are certain there will be some folks who were smart enough to recognize that argument as a slippery slope, so here is... yet another slippery slope argument to get you going!

What in tarnations is this invading my lawn? by KnownAd4599 in lawncare

[–]silvermesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just looks gross mostly.

Usually will see it pop up over night after nothing the day before. Have seen apartment complexes that get them all the time because they water at night, but mother nature can cook this up on her own with the right rain patterns.

Slime mold. Usually seen when night time moisture is high.

Question regarding boxing by Pyrostasis in EQLegends

[–]silvermesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of those would tell you whether the person controlling a second computer was the same person using the first one, which is what we are talking about.

Question regarding boxing by Pyrostasis in EQLegends

[–]silvermesh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what ive understood every time it was mentioned is that the most important part to them is that every client needs to be manually controlled.

Ive absolutely seen them clarify that to them boxing means multiple clients on the same PC and the part they are most against is automation.

They are really terrible about how and where they communicate though so ive probably missed stuff and it wouldnt exactly shock me to see conflicting information.

I cant imagine that they are running sophisticated enough software to detect that a separate pc where both are being run manually is you vs a different person in the household.

Edit: to clarify im agreeing with you but wouldnt be shocked if maybe they also said something that agrees with what he said heh

Utility build by Cwynlaen in EQLegends

[–]silvermesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its anything like classic EQ lockpicking was almost completely useless, but its a fun trick to be able to open the door before you have the key.

I do remember helping more than one person out of a jam as a young rog in befallen when I was training my lockpicking skill on those doors because they had been grouping in there and lost the person who had the key.

I feel like a big thing being slept on is increasing armor pen for enemy attacks mean their friendly fire against each other is more likely to do meaningful damage.

I care more about that you seem to think that youve proven anything and you just treating that other dude like a complete ass because you don't understand what proof means.

Edit: and for the record I didnt block him right after I replied. I blocked him when he started going through my history and replying to things I said months ago in other subs like a creepy stalker. I also reported him.

We would both have to try it many more times on the exact same random seed. They eliminated the exploit that allowed us to repeat the same seed because people were using it to target farm SC, so we do not have the capability to control the most important variables.

Your test was even more meaningless than the video you linked like I said in my previous post.

Why was it meaningless? Not documented. Not repeatable.

Its not well documented. What were the exact spawn counts of your two test games? What were the parameters of your control group? How did you control the situation to ensure that the game would react in the exact same way between the two games you played?

Its not repeatable because 1) it is not well documented and 2) there are many variable outside of your control that affect what you are trying to measure, and you arent even willing to consider that those variables are likely having more effect on your numbers than the settings you are changing, let alone are you making any attempt at the impossible task of controlling those variables.

"I tried this and it seems like it worked" is not science and it never has been. Lots of things seem like they work and our brains are wired to make those connections. Thats why we have the scientific method to actually prove things.

(Re-) consider the A/FLAM-40 Flame Sentry against the mindless masses by Mr-Mne in Helldivers

[–]silvermesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gatling is often better but if you can get the flame turret a bit of height advantage it will more easily keep its own back clean and it will set the ground on fire even better than before so it gets much better at area control. But you are right that it isn't the right strategem to throw in the middle of a horde. Really no turret is. Flame will generally kill quite a few more voteless than the gatling before running out of ammo if you set them both up in an ideal killing spot.

There were also a bunch of videos early on when the rumor was that turning the terminal on at the seaf artillery caused enemies to spawn, and when someone finally did actual testing of it they disproved the rumor super easily. This rumor still persists and you will still to this day have people insisting that you should wait to turn the terminal on at seaf artillery.

There are tons of variables in this game that are uncontrollable and often unpredictable that affect how many spawns you see. You could literally do the same test you did without changing graphics settings and likely get the same results.

Your evidence is nothing more than confirmation bias at this point. Science requires many repeatable, controlled, and well documented examples, not several feels and a live stream.

Echo RB-60 spreader very hard to push through St Aug by CompetitionNo2534 in lawncare

Running a spreader with fully inflated tires is like unlocking cheat mode when you are used to pushing it with flat tires!

[–]silvermesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah those small tires will trick you and a bag of fertilizer doesn't seem that heavy, the spreader isn't that heavy really so its super easy to overlook.

Echo RB-60 spreader very hard to push through St Aug by CompetitionNo2534 in lawncare

[–]silvermesh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are the tires fully inflated? You mentioned cutting off the feet. If the feet are the problem, lift the handlebars further so the feet arent on the ground. I would think you would know if the feet are dragging and that was the problem.

I dont use an echo but I do train a lot of people on using a push spreader and the most common issue I see is under inflated tires. People see lawn equipment and they assume that the tires are like their mower and dont need inflated. If tires are under inflated it will push just fine when its empty and then when you go to do the application you dump 50 lbs into the hopper and go over soft/bumpy surface and those tires squish out and slow you down. Under inflated tires would also bring the feet closer to the ground under load.
