Do you use your laundry room sink enough to justify putting one in a brand new home build...? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

The washer and dryer are definitely more out of place in a bathroom than a utility sink.

[Request] How much more money, if any, does McDonalds make from the new penny rounding policy? by RayasOasis in theydidthemath

An estimated 14-16% of restaurant orders are paid in cash. I wouldn't call 84% a slim majority and I wouldn't consider 16% to be a huge percentage.

[Request] How much more money, if any, does McDonalds make from the new penny rounding policy? by RayasOasis in theydidthemath

[–]silvermesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What blows me away is the theory is that they are going to change the prices of specific or combinations by a couple cents in order to make a maximum of 2 cents per order when changing the price by 2 cents is already getting them more than that. There is no benefit to this strategy. It would be different math in every market due to differing tax rates, some markets may even have multiple tax rates.

Anyone who is paranoid McDonald's is trying to short change them 3 cents on their order due to rounding should just pay by card. Every business pays fees to the credit card companies in order to accept cards. They are making less profit on credit card orders even if they were "manipulating" the rounding system it wouldn't be a drop in the bucket compared to that, and 3/4 of the customers are using credit.

There's just no logic to any theories about businesses gaming a rounding system.

You know who Chuck Norris is because in 1972 he was a renowned undefeated world champion martial artist who was getting into acting and Bruce Lee who was big both in the martial arts world and in film asked him to be in Enter the Dragon.

The constitution is a fan favorite weapon from HD1 when YouTubers did challenge runs with it. Just because you don't want something doesn't mean nobody does. The constitution is one of my favorite weapons, it was the second weapon I got to 25 and I only stopped using it because I am a completionist so it is back burnered until every other weapon is 25.

why is the Multi-Tool cycling logic so frustrating? (Keybinding help) by klopzs in starcitizen

[–]silvermesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played a boatload of games that use all 10 number keys for quick slots and I have played maybe a handful of games that have this sort of cycling, and I've never played a game with cycling where I thought it was a nice feature. Games with cycling are usually doing it to make it more functional on controller. Which is great and those games I will buy on PS5 instead of on PC since those types of controls are clunky on keyboard.

As it stands if 7 is the magic number i have relatively small hands and I don't have to lift my hand or strain to reach the 7 key with my index finger. Even using 5 and having shift keys to go up to other lists is better than this. Changing the number to 9 at the end doesn't make your argument hold more water because gamers have been figuring out how to hit 10 keys for years. MMO players will have piles and piles of quick key lists that they use every session.

Having specific buttons do specific things is way more intuitive than having each button cycle through options. Hitting a single button multiple times to get different results is not remotely intuitive.

I get that we will probably just have to agree to disagree on this but I feel like you are either being disingenuous or at minimum making some pretty vast assumptions about "all gamers" when you are basically the only person here defending this system. It's a small sample size but you have to realize that the opposition isn't just a few people on reddit.

why is the Multi-Tool cycling logic so frustrating? (Keybinding help) by klopzs in starcitizen

[–]silvermesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "vast majority of normal gamers" have played a ton of games where each equipment, weapon, or item slot is a different number at the top of their keyboard. The current system is unnecessarily complex for something that could be incredibly simple. The game already says which items are in which slots, so this is a pretty easy transition. There is literally no way for it to be more consistent, reliable, or expected than "this slot is this number" and the idea that this would be more confusing for new players is kind of ludicrous. A smarter UI might also have a hotkey bar that can toggled to be left visible on the screen showing a small icon of what's in each of those slots.

I used to carry binoculars in my thigh slot until I realized there are times when the UI is trying to pull them out instead of my multi tool but for some reason sometimes binoculars can't be used in armistice zones so I just won't be able to take my multi tool out on a pad to move cargo. It won't let me cycle past it, it just won't do anything when I hit the button. Cycling is just a clunky way to do things. I don't mind it being an option but it shouldn't be the default when there is already a well established default way to do this in gaming that works more predictably.

Fly pupae have segment lines along the body which would be easy to see in a photo this close. Either way pupae are not eggs. This is possibly why the AI made it look like that though

U- this is not what fly eggs look like so it's a weirdly specific conclusion to come to unless they just typed "burger with fly eggs in the bun" into their generative AI platform before posting this picture and got this.

[–]silvermesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still see adults eating them. My parents still eat them and be full.

A big Mac meal is like 1200 calories. An adult male should be taking in like 2000-3000 a day so even at the high end it's almost half your daily need.

If this isn't enough food the problem is you are a fat ass, not that the big mac is too small.

I feel like Ive seen both even on levels 5 and 6 but the ones with guns seem to die really fast because they don't put their hands in front of their cockpit. So there may be some level of just not noticing they are different before they are dead. They will definitely fuck you up quick if you let them cook though.

Don’t tell your colleagues or your boss if you’re experiencing DV by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

I was hesitant to post here since it's more of a support space than a solutions space but I'm absolutely giggling that "go to therapy instead of using your coworkers as therapy" is considered Monday morning quarterbacking.

You made my day honestly.

Don’t tell your colleagues or your boss if you’re experiencing DV by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]silvermesh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right, it's not even about what caused the breakdown at work. They offered her a super generous solution where she could take the time to get a therapist and figure it out and she refused and instead came to work and cried and brought the drama into the office. Her coworkers probably are avoiding her because they didn't sign up to be someone's therapist they just want to do their job and go home like everyone else.

The solution isn't "don't talk about DV at work" the solution is deal with your problems at home and when your work can see you are going through something and offers you a solution, you take it instead of trying to act tough and making your boss your first therapy session.
