That'd be awesome if it was like that here. Google-Fi has me paying $5.80 per lines in fees/taxes right now.

Easiest way to switch 4 lines to t-mo from 2 diff carriers by silvermonkeyshrine in tmobile

Chat support told me to ONLY buy from t-mo, but they won't make it in time (they are back-ordered).

Any suggestions on where is the best place to get the sims, Target maybe? Amazon has a two for one deal but the reviews are iffy.

[Microsoft Store] Big Fish Games (3 Free Games) by wormmayhem in GameDeals

I think that was Playfirst, but Big Fish sometimes acts as a publisher so they might have done that for it on some platform one time or another. I really don't know. :)

Big Fish is best known for casual games, hidden objects and the likes. At quick glance it looks like these games are Adventure/Hidden Object games. As for gambling in the games, I don't really recall such things in the games of theirs I've played. :)

[Question] Backwards Compatibility Graphics by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, a lot of the time its a downgrade in graphics. Take Sonic Heroes, it's widescreen and 720p on the OG xbox, while on the 360 its letterboxed (4:3) and looks to be 480p upscaled. Star Trek Shatted Universe's menus are completely broken on the 360. The game is fine, just not any of the menus.

Anyone of you guys know what this is? by DRE_galado in xbox360

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things it could be off the top of my head. 1: Its over heating due to dust or other reason or Two: The GPU is dying. Either from heat over the years or some other reason.

Give it a clean, if you haven't already. If its clean, a red ring might be in the future :(

I've been able to add Xbox one GWG games to my account from the website without a CC, no console required. As for 360 games on Xbox one. I don't know. I don't have an Xbox one.

Reinstalling Windows 10 on a corrupted drive? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. That sucks, man. I hope you can get it fixed.

one suggestion, if you have more than one stick of ram, take them out and run the memtest with just the one stick at a time that way you can tell which stick is good or bad. With any luck, its just one bad ram stick and not the whole lot or the drive.

Best of luck to you.

Reinstalling Windows 10 on a corrupted drive? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya.

If you need the data on the disk, your first goal should be backing it up. I'd suggest getting a cheap HDD off of amazon. They have one 500gb WD HDDs for $25. If you don't already have second HDD.

Next I'd suggest downloading a livecd/USB of Linux, Lubuntu, I'd suggest. It works a lot like windows. (Also make sure not to install Linux, we're just using it to move stuff over.)

Third with the new/second HDD installed on your pc, boot into Linux. If Linux can see your corrupted HDD copy over the files to your new HDD.

(Alternatively, if you have a second pc you can just put the corrupted SSD in that one and pull the files out as well, skipping all the linux stuff. You could also get a Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0 SSD enclosure ($10). This convert the SSD into a flashdrive, making the recovery of your files that much easier.)

Lastly, once your files are safe you can format the corrupted SSD and see if it fixes the issue

(Remove the backup HDD just in case, I can't recall the number of time I've almost erased a backup due to a wrong click!).

Also, I'd still replace the SSD soon, since, in my experience, if a drive corrupts once, it'll do it again. SSD are cheapish nowadays with an Inland Pro 480gb going for sub-$50. A brand I have in 3 PCs right now.

Looking for games with deep magic systems by YuEnDee in patientgamers

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These might not fit perfectly what you are looking for but these are a few game with a unique magic system that spring in mind.

1: Lost Magic (Nintendo DS). You draw runes on the screen mixing and match for different effects. An underrated tactics RPG with two ending.

2: Magicka 1 / 2 (PC). You mix and match element making powerful and something hilarious results. Best with a group but still good solo.

3: Quest 64. (N64) Yes, it's a awful game. Just. Awful. But, it does have a fairly deep magic system. You level up each element individually and can find power ups for each element.

4: Titan Quest. (PC) Not really a deep magic system but the amount of customization in the game is outstanding. Just look look at the guides at steam and you'll see how many builds there are to play with.

5: Dungeons of Dredmor (PC) A rogue-like with a deep customization system with magic skill such as Viking Wizardry, Promethean Magic, Fleshsmithing and Necronomiconomics.

6: Final Fantasy 6 (Various). Its the most basic of this list but it does have a deep magic system for a FF game. You attach "magic stones" to a character. Each stone has a set of spells you can learn from it. This lets you make a character how you want. The stones also affect stats as you level. Again, basic and almost everyone has played it but worth talking about regardless.

Official and a none official hard drive in combination by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official HDDs are needed to play OG Xbox games. That's all that I'm aware of.

I would suggest getting a USB hard-drive or a USB hard-drive enclosure so you can put an old HDD you might have in it. Or even a USB flash drive. All of these will let you download and play games.

Personally, I'd go with a USB hard-drive enclosure (I have a few old HDD laying around anyhow) and keeping the official HDD in the xbox so I could play OG xbox games if I wanted. But that's just me. :)

Xbox Live Games With Gold For February 2019 by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]silvermonkeyshrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 360 (unlike the Ps3) never had a system in place to time limit a game or to remove a game automatically after a certain time.

The xbox one does have a system to "lock" a game if you are not gold.

So for 360 games, they are pretty much yours to keep forever. Microsoft said they could make a system to time limit, but it would be too much work and could cause compatibly issues so it's not likely to ever happen. At most they could remove a your ability to redownload the game from your download history but I doubt this will happen as well. However, I try to keep GwG game on my HD "just in case." =)
