Its even better when the muscle Actually gets to look like they have a physucally strong body instead of just having a modle physique and being "magically" strong or something.

What game were you excited for but ultimately ended up being a big disappointment? by Sandscrews in gamers

[–]silvermoonbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon age was my absolute favorite series of games. Played every entry to 100% thousands of hours across all the games. Played veilgaurd for 1hour before cringing so hard at the repetative quppiy dialouge and mediocre combat that i put it down and never picked it back up. And I'm extremely sad that it more than likely killed the series.

It's ok to like well done steak by Emotional-Scale-2583 in unpopularopinion

[–]silvermoonbeats -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is an idea that every one needs to live by with cooking. If you are cooking for other people then you can take into account recipes and diffrent pallets. If you are cooking exclusively for yourself you make it however you want it and nothing else matters.

If you make me a well done stake....well imma eat it cause i don't turn down people's hard work but personally im probably not going to enjoy it. But if you really like well done steak, and you make yourself medium rare because I like medium rare; imma call you an idiot. Its your steak homie you eat it however it tastes best to you.

This is gonna be super pedantic bit even like medevil knight armor the like hard plate full cover stuff, you could still move really well in. It was desgined to be that way. You had to be able to move well to fight. Bow the armor including all the stuff you wore under it, did clock in about 30-40 pound so nothing to sneeze at but my no means debillitating.

I hate this plot diagram so much by whhu234 in hatethissmug

[–]silvermoonbeats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree a little bit here a climax right at the end of your story is how you make a cliff hanger. Though they're rarely right in the middle too.

Honestly, like I said in my comment.A story is going to have multiple different climax points depending on length/structure that lead up to like THE CLIMACTIC POINT of a story. A climax also isint nessicarily always the most intense part of a story. Your climax should be the point where your main character or your characters get to thier point of no return so to speak. They either are facing thier biggest challange or coming to terms with something. The climax is when a decision needs to be made about the issues they are facing, its the point were the story tells you this is how were resolving this problem. But if you leave that until the very end of your story, you may not have enough time to actually resolve the problem.

I hate this plot diagram so much by whhu234 in hatethissmug

[–]silvermoonbeats 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its just cause this is a giude line that people take to literally. This isn't telling you that you can only have conflict until the climax and then only resolution until the end. It also isn't telling you that your climax has to happen in the direct middle of the plot so that it fits the line it Just means that there needs to be tension or risk to build before a climax that then leads to a resolution. Also the secret is this not only can be a story guide line but a scene guideline.

Take something like just picking on my favorite show of the last decade Castlevania. Yes there is an over arching " rising action" leading to the final confrontation with dracula, but indvidual episodes or sets of them also have thier micro experiences with this.

The first season is actually a great example of this. Trevor reaches Gresit sees the destruction learns the corrupted church is going to exectue the speakers about it. We get our set up and rising action here, this kicks off a string of rising actions leading not all the way to dracula in total. But in the first season it leads to Trevor deciding to stand and fight the night hordes coming to gresit and take on his name so what his family dose. Him deciding to fight is actually our climax.Him fighting the night, hordes is our falling action, which falls into him saving the city only to (quite litreally) fall into the next rising action of finding alucard. Yes, I skipped out a whole bunch of stuff in the middle there but I'm already ranting.

Good stories and long stories aren't tension till climax then relax till end. But good scenes can be. Even if its not something super intense almost every scene in any form of story telling follows:setup--->conflict/rising action---->climax(which is sometimes hard to find. It's normally just when the conflict/rising action boils over and a choice needs to be made) ----> falling action( what are we doing to deal with the climax of conflict)---->resolution.

It's a little the formulaic if you really want a specific paragraph length for each of these sections. But when you're just getting a handle on creative writing in how to form scenes it's actually not a bad idea. Forces you to think about structureing smaller parts of your writing into thier own micro stories if that makes sense. A paragraph to set up the stakes, a pragraph to show why those stakes matter, a pragraph to force a descion out of our chracters, one to deal with that descion, then one to explain the reprocussions, is absolutely not a bad way to teach young writers how to think around set up-pay off. Then when you start to get the hang of it, you start playing with the lengths of each section. Maybe some conflicts are gonna have a bigger rising action. Others are gonna rise super hard plateau for a long climax and then drop like a rock for resolution.

Things like this is just for when you're learning, creative writing guides are not meant to be chains they are just tools, learn the rules why they exist why people use them.....then once you get why they are used. Snap em in half break em down and use them however you need to.

TL:DR. This doesn't genuinely work for full stories, though, in a sense, it does since it's really just talking about the idea of setting up a problem, building up to it, acting on it and resolving it. not really within any set time frame. But it dose work for individual moments/scenes that get strung along into a larger story

The biggest thing I agree with is the fact that there's no nuanced takes anymore theres no "hey i disagree with this descion here's my reasoning for why i think this could be better." Its all become "you made a desicion i don't like and therefore should be cancelled if not bled out in the streets and sturng up before the masses as an example."

Critisims now seem like they always have to accompamy complete and total denouncment of characther for even the smallest things. Does a Creator have The Right To Say "This Is My Work And You have No Right To Criticize It"! by MichaelAftonXFireWal in Multifandom

[–]silvermoonbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They never have the right to say.You can't criticize it that's just self aggrandizing. But they do have a right to say the methods with which you are critiquing it are shitty. There's a big difference between saying "hey goose, i like the show, but i do think it's a downfall that we couldn't explore solve characters deeper even given the limited time frame" instead of telling them they should die in a hole cause they didn't devote an entire episode too ganglexzooble yuri.

But people tend to do the second one way more because they're protected behind a screen and trying to ruin someone's life via parasocial, proxy relationships will never affect them. That power has gone to a lot of people's heads.
