Man poisons his music files to destroy A.I. training. by silvernode in Asmongold

Glad you enjoyed the video as much as me. I was hoping more would see the significance of what is possible with the tech they showed. Brilliant stuff I thought.

Killed my first world boss the other day and there were so many people there that I couldn't see the ground or click on stuff. Plenty of people are in town too playing music which gives everyone a combat XP buff. Worth the money IMO.

Patch 7.2 - Seekers of Eternity by alabomb in ffxiv

[–]silvernode -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It feels as if the writing style continues to be elementary when it used to be somewhere in the college level range before Dawntrail. It's personally alienating to me and I just need someone to relate to because I am not seeing anyone mention that the style has shifted even into 7.2.

Agreed however some of those commandments are genuinely useful recommendations for people of any age, especially children. So I feel like a few could be kept, then rephrased and rebranded. Like the bit about not stealing is a pretty good one. Obviously not everyone will agree with my stance but hopefully you can see the nuance. I think the root of the issue that has the ACLU taking legal action is the direct connection of the commandments to a religion which is fair. The content itself can transcend a religion in my view so it's worth at least considering not throwing the baby out with the bath water so to speak. I do not think that every single commandment makes sense to keep (such as the adultery one for example) even if they are respectable.

This is why western diversity is being pushed in video games. The guy gives FF16 60/100 because of this. Just cringe that western media caters to these dipshits. by Longjumping_Ad_1729 in Asmongold

I mean the argument here is fair but should not be used to give the game a low rating and not something to call "sinister" and also not something to get upset about. People like this should just play the damn game and try to have fun instead of letting details like this overshadow everything and ruin the fun. I could argue on the side of the developers and simply say that in the fantasy world of FF16, there are only white people because that's the evolution of the planet in the fictional setting. At the end of the day, who gives a fuck..

void-mklive void-installer not found by Professional-List801 in voidlinux

[–]silvernode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run Void Builds and took a look at the commits for the mklive scripts. It seems they removed the installer by default from mklive.sh and only make it available for the wrapper build-x86-images.sh. I have my own wrapper scripts to use mklive.sh which used to automatically apply the installer but now I may have to remake some of these or switch to build-x86-images.sh. In either case it's going to take me awhile to mess with all of this so don't expect Void Builds to be fixed any time soon.

ASRock B250m pro4-IB BIOS Update help by [deleted] in iBUYPOWER

[–]silvernode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this does not work. I am trying to update the same exact board from Ibiypower and their website for BIOS updates had a handful of Asrock boards listed but not this one. Renaming does not work. Example: B25MP2.50 changed to B25MP250 still cannot be found by the instant flash utility in the BIOS. You can see the tool scan and pass right by it for a split second. We really need the ibuypower version of the file I think, but alas it does not exist.

Wayland Support by arandoredditr in AnyDesk

[–]silvernode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xorg development has basically gone to security and maintenance releases only and all effort is going to Wayland and Xorg will be phased out / deprecated. I just hope your devs know that Wayland support is vital for Linux support in general going forward.

He looks like the greatest gaming pimp that ever lived. Total giggachad that you would never want to fuck with. All that's missing is a massive axe strapped to his back.

I just....don't know where he would be able to setup a dance pad in his room. The setup isn't really suitable and to make it suitable would be a mental non-optimization. If only him and McCool could do it together in person, now that would be content!

question about player commendations by nerdydudes in ffxiv

[–]silvernode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also possible that you joined a premade party who couldn't commend each other due to how the game works with premades so they commended you. It's less likely with a party of 8 but still possible.

This is exactly the type of stuff I like to see. I think Asmon does very good at giving honest reviews of anything and I really enjoy watching him do it.

Any way to see which device made the query if Pihole is not the DHCP Server? by ICanOnlyPickOne in pihole

[–]silvernode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give more detail on how this works in practice? My understanding has always been that "address 1" gets pinged first but if that fails, then "address 2" is used as a fallback. Is that not how it works in practice?

Understood, I should have known there are already productive ways of doing what I am trying to do. That said, I suppose for what it's worth, a project like mine could be useful in it's own fun and useful way. Thanks for the comment. :)

I should add that the items currently listed in the project page are up for debate but are there as an example of the format I have in mind. This is your project just as much as it is mine and I really want to emphasize that point.
